We’re back! High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie In the Sky’ brings back Captain Nick Wagner. He’s willing to do anything to gain Morgan’s trust and be included in the Roman’s investigation. Which raises our suspicions. Meanwhile, Selina tracks Roman to a mysterious and very powerful woman in New York. Ready?
Here we go!
Trust is Earned in High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie In the Sky’

Finally, after far too many episodes, Nick Wagner is back in High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie In the Sky’. And he doesn’t come with an apology. Rather, with a justification. Nick goes to great lengths—too much so that it’s suspicious—to gain Morgan’s trust and be included in the Roman’s investigation. So much so, that he even asks Karadec what it will cost to make Morgan trust him.
But the truth is, Nick did nothing to earn Morgan’s trust; quite the opposite, in fact. All Morgan knows about Nick is that he used her and then abandoned her…and that he tries hard not to share anything too personal about himself but feels the need to make it clear that he’s the one in charge. It’s not a very promising start, especially considering that for Morgan—and for us—Nick will always be the guy who took Selina’s job.
So, nop. Morgan isn’t willing to fall for whatever game Nick is playing in High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie in the Sky.’ And he knows it. That’s why he tries to open up to her, confessing how he learned in his childhood that trust was earned and how, because of that, he tested the team. After all, he didn’t know who he could trust and whether they were honest cops or like all the others he knew. Do we think all of this is true? Yes. But we also think it’s not the whole story.
And, of course, that doesn’t justify him abandoning Morgan.

Suspicious Situations…

So Nick’s story seems more like a justification than anything else. It seems like he’s trying to appeal to Morgan’s good heart. All to get her to trust him enough to let him into the Roman investigation. It doesn’t seem like a sincere attempt to make things better and earn the team’s trust to help them. If it were, the conversation would have started with an apology.
We also don’t believe a word of what Nick says in High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie In the Sky’ about wanting to help do the right thing. Something’s fishy here. Nick is way too aware of the Roman investigation and too keen to be included in it for it not to be. But what is Nick hiding? We don’t think it’s necessarily something bad, but we’re eager to find out!
That said, we think the episode could have explored more of the fallout from what happened the last time Nick Wagner was in the office. He had a confrontation with Morgan, but it was all about Roman. She never confronted him about abandoning her to rot after using her. And we didn’t see any of the rest of the team call him out on this either. It’s like the show forgot about this. So we expected much more. We said what we said.

Other Stuff in High Potential Season 2 Episode 15 ‘Pie In the Sky’

- Who is Willa Quinn, and what does she know about Roman’s disappearance? Because it’s clear she knows something…and why is she so powerful? How does she manage to find out everything and stay one step ahead? Too many unanswered questions. We’re intrigued.
- We really don’t like that Willa is in Los Angeles now. It’s clear Selina has made a very dangerous enemy.
- By the way, we loved that Selina wasn’t intimidated and made it clear to Willa that she’s a force to be reckoned with.
- “No one can force Morgan Gillory to do anything; you should know that by now.” Oh, Karadec, you’re wonderful!
- Seriously, we love how he knows her, the way he admires and respects her. We live for these Morgadec crumbs!
- Take that, Captain!
- We would have loved to know how Daphne is doing with her exam. And what happened in Ava’s art class.
- We felt bad for Elliot.
- But we love how he trusts Morgan. He knew she would figure it out. And he was super cute with that plushie.
- We didn’t want her to be the killer. She was too nice.
