The Devil Wears Prada 2 is hitting theaters on May 1, 2026. We’re counting down the days, because the first movie is forever a part of our life. It’s one of the movies that no matter how many times we’ve seen it or what part its at, we always stop to watch.
While filming the sequel, production was everywhere. Some scenes for the movie were shot in Milan at Fashion Week, where Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway went to a few shows. In a new interview with Harpers Bazaar, Streep said that she was, “struck by how not only beautiful and young—everyone seems young to me—but alarmingly thin the models were.… I thought that all had been addressed years ago. Annie clocked it too.”
Seeing this Streep said that Anne, “made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She’s a stand-up girl.”
THE SEQUEL
In the sequel, “Miranda Priestly struggles against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement.”
The movie was filmed last summer in New York City. In the interview, Streep spoke about being unnerved by the sequel, “Even though we were aware of the impact of the first film two decades ago, I think none of us were prepared for the ambush of both goodwill and avid attention that engulfed us. We needed police barriers and crowd control.”
We’re not surprised as we did see this last summer as we walked around the city. It was heaven to see one of our favorites come to life.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 stars returning for the sequel are Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. The sequel has added some familiar faces – Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora.
