Take the title of this article for what you will. We’re not going to judge.
If you watch verticls, you should know the name Nick Puya. The vertical actor oozes charisma. In My Janitor Dad Is The Final Boss, he continues to show just how charismatic he can be. A body like a greek god, a smile the makes a person weak in the knees, and acting chops that make anyone want to watch everything that he does.
The series folows, “Leif, a powerful tycoon and NATO commander, pretends to be a janitor to protect his son. He saves CEO Elowen but is humiliated. Later, he reveals his identity, takes revenge.”
Now, first I do want to say that it always weirds me out with how young these actors are and they’re playing Dads of older teenagers. Like Puya is in his early 30’s so playing a Dad? But apparently spray some grey and you are good to go? Hair and makeup thinks so. The Dad bod is never a thing for him though – instead they overlook that and enhance the greek god figure.
His character of of Leif is hiding his wealth. He wants his son, Jasper, to appreciate the things that he has. He doesn’t want his child to be like the spoiled brats that he hangs out with.
One night, he rescues Elowen from the head of the mob. As the head of the mob finds out that Leif is the “supreme chairman” he apologized and backed down. Elowen was able to go home and wasn’t going to be hurt.
Now, I can understand wanting to protect and person and be thankful that they saved you. Does that result in wanting to marry that person? No. Elowen though, she’s not like us. She is young and vibrant and for her – Leif saving her – the repayment is marriage. And Lordy is she happy to get married.
I don’t really mind an age gap romance. I actually find them to sometimes be funny and sometimes be interesting. This one was one of those interesting ones in the sense that you may not understand what they see in each other, but here we are. I guess if the attraction is so deep and you are so thankful for it – why not.
What I do love about this is that Elowen is that she’s fearless. She wants to impress her stepson, she wants to be a good wife, and she doesn’t even care that her husband doesn’t have money. Well at least tha that she knows of. She is intent on stepping into the role and being a good step parent, but Leif and his son don’t want or need all the expensive things.
Even when they are at a party and all of Jasper’s friends are being trash, Leif is waiting and making sure that his son is making the right choices. When Elowen shows up and wants to shower Jasper with gifts, Leif lets him make choices. He wanted to make sure of the choices he made and for them to be the ethics that he taught.
Jasper did make choices that would make his father proud. He wants to work like his father did.
Elowen wants to take care of the family – which is sweet. But one thing thing that I do take issue with in verticals or in life is the demeaning responses that one gives. For instance when Leif mentions something about something being expensive, her response is about him not paying for it. And while I do get that it’s not supposed to sound as demeaning as it does – it just is that way.
Eventually – of course – Leif’s identity comes out, his son realizes they are filthy rich, and there are a lot of come to Jesus moments. The choreographed fights are kind of funny, but entertaining none the less. My Janitor Dad Is The Final Boss has a satisfactory ending that is enjoyable.
For that we would just like to say it is worth the watch.
If you grew up watching soap operas, there will be no shock to you how invested you become in verticals. The insanity of them is part of what makes them so addictive is the predictability of them, but also the dramatic insanity of them. This one has all of that.
We do have to give credit to Gabrielle Faith Brown, who has over 10 verticals to her credit, but we’re still getting to know. While we’ve seen limited amounts of them, everything we’ve ever said that wasn’t positive, we’re taking back. Why? Because the actress continues to show her versatility and prove that she’s a powerhouse in the making.
So should you watch My Janitor Dad Is The Final Boss? Yes, you absolutely should. It’s crazy fun, sometimes disgusting, and also just dramatic and sometimes romantic. All in all it is what verticals are meant to be – an escape.
You can’t go wrong with that.
