There are endings you brace yourself for and endings you refuse to believe are actually happening. Outlander was always the latter, but here we are—seeing its final chapter. The good news? STARZ knows exactly what it’s doing. Because just as one story closes, another is already waiting to pull us right back through the stones. And yeah, we’re talking about Outlander: Blood of My Blood!
The show is officially set to return this fall!!!! Yeah, you read it well! But, if you thought Season 1 was just laying the groundwork, Season 2 looks ready to break hearts in entirely new ways. Alongside the announcement, we’ve got a teaser and first-look images that make one thing very clear: the war is here.
What Happened at the End of Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1?
Season 1 reframed everything we thought we knew about Claire’s parents and Jamie’s legacy. Julia and Henry built their love across distance and devastation, their connection forged through letters during World War I. They were happy with her daughter Claire when time itself decided to interfere.
Their journey to 18th-century Scotland separated and endangered them in ways they wouldn’t easily forget. But they survived. By the time they reached the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, there was hope, yes, but also that sinking feeling that nothing would come easy. And if this universe has taught us anything, it’s that hope usually comes with a cost.
Then there’s Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, who somehow managed to make “love at first sight” feel both inevitable and doomed. Their relationship was never going to be simple. Not with clan politics, expectations, and everything that comes with the Fraser name hanging over them. Still, they chose each other—knowing exactly what that choice would cost.
And just when it looked like they might get away with it, history caught up to them. The Jacobite Rising of 1715 isn’t something you can outrun. By the end of Season 1, whatever chance they had was already slipping, with war closing in and loyalties about to be tested in ways that rarely end well.
Season 2 doesn’t ease into anything—it throws all of this together and lets it explode.
These two couples may have started in very different places, but they’re heading toward the same kind of mess: separation, bad choices, and circumstances they can’t control. Every clan will have to pick a side. And in a world like this, picking a side always means losing something.

And here’s the teaser:
In the first look, Ellen and Brian are together in the small cabin that is their home. But they know their time is running out. She cups Brian’s face before he leaves, like she’s trying to hold onto something that’s already slipping away. The clans are going to war, and there’s no version of this where he gets to stay. He has a duty. She knows it. He knows it. That doesn’t make it any easier to watch him go.
On the other hand, Julia and Henry’s situation isn’t much better. They are ready to cross the stones…but the Grant men are hot on their heels. And no, the teaser isn’t fooling anyone. That moment with them and Claire? It doesn’t read as present-day.
And then there’s Dougal, rallying the Mackenzie men to the war. And that kind of ball? Is already sending chills down our spines.
If Season 1 was about falling in love, Season 2 looks like the part where reality catches up—and love has to fight a lot harder to matter.
