Yes, we know that a lot of people take issue with the changes that happened with the adaptation of Every Year After. We aren’t one of them – we loved the changes and the ones that we didn’t like we could appreciate.
One of the biggest changes that people took issue with is the change from Sam knowing about Charlie and Percy sleeping together the summer they broke up. In the television show, Sam finds out and we see his reaction and the aftermath of him finding out.
“I personally love that he doesn’t know,” Matt Cornett, who plays Sam said.
He continued, “For our show, something I love so much about it is you get to see [Sam] spiraling in a real, actual moment, right then and there.”
We think that it adds an element of drama to the show and think it plays out well. He mentioned that it was really fun for him to play.
“It’s not a story told of him spiraling, and you see him afterwards — you actually see it actively happening, and you see him start to go down the rabbit hole,” Cornett said. “And lose his relationship with Charlie and kind of, somewhat, lose his relationship with Percy, and lose that trust with both of them — and feel the betrayal from both of them.”
