KC disrespected Aniya on Love Island USA Season 8 and some viewers still don’t get it.
The disrespect has nothing to do with KC exploring his connection with Titi and bringing her back to the Villa. This is the point of Love Island. This is the point of Casa Amor. Your relationships are tested and you get to explore new ones. KC disrespected Aniya because of how he handled the return from Casa Amor and the blatant disrespect we saw on video during movie night that showed he didn’t really want to be with Aniya from the start.

The Casa Amor of It All

Before going to Casa Amor, KC made it clear that he was here for Aniya and told her sweet things like how she was the blueprint for a Black woman. He was also not expressing clear interest in other women. So when Aniya found out that he was the one hesitant to boot Sol from the Villa, it threw her off because this was information she didn’t have. His calm demeanor when they talked about it afterwards didn’t help. Because if he wanted to explore, he just needed to be honest about it and he wasn’t.
Then there’s the Casa Amor entrance. As the girls were watching, you could see on Aniya’s face that she didn’t know this version of KC she was seeing. He was so eager to kiss the bombshells, his knee jumping up and down in anticipation, and he kept saying things like, “I ain’t gonna lie, if that’s the first one, then shit, this motherfucker gonna be good.” and “That shit good.” and “This is what the fuck life is supposed to be about.”
Throughout Casa Amor we got to see both Aniya and KC explore new connections, as they rightfully should. KC grew closer to Titi while Aniya grew closer to Carl. And unlike the viewer, who saw KC continuously disrespect Anaya with his words at Casa Amor, Aniya thought that their connection would survive despite the test that is Casa Amor. She chose KC and he chose Titi.
Back to the Villa

When KC returned to the villa with Titi, I do think the girls were a little bit too hot with him. This isn’t Relationship Island. This is Love Island. But I feel like KC made it worse because there was no empathy coming from him to Aniya. Here was the person that he spent 3 weeks with and the only thing he could say was that he breathed life into her and that no one had picked him while facing the woman that had continuously picked him week after week. Even Titi initially was more understanding of Aniya’s heartbreak and offered more sympathy.
Things went off the rails when Trinity brought up the inconsistencies in KC’s story. And instead of explaining himself and being a grown man, he let someone else speak for him. This made him look like a coward and like someone who doesn’t stand on business when it comes to their choices. And he listened to Titi argue with the Villa women while having a big ol’ smile on his face as if he were delighted with the chaos around him instead of being concerned that he hurt someone’s feelings.
The aftermath of the post-Casa Amor recoupling saw Aniya crying and saying she wanted to go home. And what was KC doing? Laughing. He was with Corbin laughing and saying nothing because he’s a coward who likes chaos but won’t talk with the girl he’s spent weeks forming a connection with. “Oh but he doesn’t owe her a conversation,” you say. You know what, he doesn’t owe her a conversation. But he should talk to her. Because that’s basic respect and shows that even though he went in a different direction on Love Island USA, he meant the things he said to Aniya during their time together and didn’t mean to embarrass her on national TV.

KC Playing the Victim While Being Selfish

KC brushed off Aniya because he was selfish and thought the only person’s experience that matters is his own. And then he made it worse by telling Titi that the situation was ridiculous and how Aniya never “filled his cup” like those letters they exchanged meant nothing. Oh and let’s not forget that he played the “nice guy” card and how today “I didn’t give a fuck.” You do know that you can choose yourself while not being rude, right?
Ages later KC pulled Aniya for a chat. And instead of owning up and leading the conversation, because HE pulled her for a chat, he let her lead the conversation. That right there was another cowardly move to put the burden of the conversation on someone else because he can’t own up to anything. When Aniya told him that she couldn’t be around him, I thought everything was good and they squashed it all. He then went and disrespected her by asking her for a hug and telling her to go for Carl like she didn’t ask for boundaries two seconds ago.
We’re Finally at Movie Night

When movie night arrived, everyone saw how truly disrespectful KC was to Aniya and the rest of the women at the Villa. Let’s list out what he did/said:
- He called Aniya a “grandma” because she didn’t want to get intimate with him after knowing him for a short time.
- Implied that Aniya wasn’t beautiful, but her mind was.
- Implied that he didn’t want to be serious with Aniya because “that shit’s not fun.”
- He said that it felt like a “job” being with Aniya.
- He dismissed her past trauma as something that had nothing to do with him, as if being in a relationship isn’t about sharing each other’s burdens.
- He disrespected all the women in the Villa by saying on Night 1 at Casa Amor, “Honestly, I just feel like the girls back in the villa, bro, they didn’t really understand my powers and shit.”
- He disrespected Aniya by saying, “I have nothing in common with Aniya, bro.” after choosing her for weeks and buttering her up as if he cared for her.
- After they received the postcard of what the girls were doing in the Villa, KC said that he wasn’t happy for Aniya exploring and said, “I don’t give a fuck, either. But like she’s on a thin ass line. Like any arguments she bring up…” And when asked if he thought he was on a thin line since he explored and kissed multiple people, he said, “I think I have more leeway cause I literally spoke life into her every fucking day bruh.”
The blowout that happened afterwards was warranted.
The men were acting like all the women didn’t just witness KC disrespect Aniya over and over while implying that he didn’t even like her. They also were trying to sow doubt into the girls minds so they would look better and not have to take responsibility for their crude and cruel behavior in Casa. Even when KC stood up and started yelling, it was about sowing doubt into the women at what they just saw. Aniya matched his energy, he clammed up like a coward, and then people watching at home started painting him as the victim and her as the aggressor.
Can We Talk About the “Double Standard”?

The men of the Villa brought up a supposed double standard when it comes to Aniya and KC exploring. No one is mad that KC explored. Aniya explored too. It’s the purpose of the island after all. Everyone is mad because of how KC explored and how he was moving during that exploration. Aniya feels disrespected because KC invalidated her feelings, disrespected her during a vulnerable moment when he returned from Casa, and then she had to watch during movie night how he never respected her, the relationship they were building, or even her exploring in the first place.
Even the whole “double standard” with Sincere and how the girls treated him doesn’t make sense. Everyone was shocked by what they were seeing with Sincere during movie night. Even the men were shocked and were looking at Sincere in the same way Aniya did when she saw him initially enter Casa like “I don’t know who this person is.” And the women didn’t blow up on Sincere because they were following the lead of the person directly affected, Melanie. She was quiet, devastated, and reserved. So they followed her behavior. That right there is respect and understanding of what is needed in the situation.
All I Have to Say…

At the end of the day, KC disrespected Aniya and her journey on Love Island USA. He didn’t allow her to explore the Villa on her own terms because he was reassuring her that what they had was real. And she believed him. Meanwhile he was badmouthing her to the boys and waiting for an opportunity for a Bombshell that would catch his eye. Which, again, explore. That’s the point of the show. But own up to your intentions. Don’t be sneaky. Don’t be cruel. And don’t try to switch things up to put the blame on someone else when you weren’t honest from the jump.
