We live by the phrase that you don’t choose the ship, the ship chooses you. That being said, though, one must also accept that there is a difference between characters and real-life human beings, so what you may ship on the screen can be weird off the screen. Not all actors need to date each other.
Take Off Campus, for example.
On a recent episode of In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele, Ella Bright was asked about shipping. Well, the fact that fans ship her and Belmont Cameli.
“I totally get it, but it is so weird. Like, no,” she said. She continued by saying that Belmont is “literally my brother…I love him so much, but yeah, it’s very funny.”
We don’t always understand why people say the things that they do, because it seems like just yesterday people were complaining about the age gap between Ella and Belmont.
When on the Not Skinny, Not Fat podcast, Bright said, “But also not once did I feel one left out from being younger than everybody. We’re all such a family, and like, everyone was just more than perfect. I couldn’t be more comfortable on the set with these people. So it is funny when they said that.”
We ship Hannah and Garrett, but Belmont and Ella? No. They aren’t it for us, but we do love the chemistry that they have on the screen.
