Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård are giving unconventional romance in the official trailer for their upcoming film Wicker.
Originally premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, Wicker is a comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention. And it’s all told from the perspective of an ostracized fisher-woman played by Olivia Colman. She commissions the local basket-maker, played by Peter Dinklage, to make her a husband.
What Colman’s character didn’t expect is for her wicker husband, played by Alexander Skarsgård, to be spectacular. And as their relationship develops and their love grows, Colman’s character feels something awaken inside of her that she never expected. Of course, that also leads to jealousy from others. Because there’s nothing more that social convention established by men hate than a woman who feels liberated mentally, physically, and sexually.
From what we see in the official trailer for Wicker, this movie looks sensual, funny, and perfect for the girlies who love a good romance, women’s liberation, and monsters. Also, the design work for Skarsgård is beautiful. This isn’t the horror that was Jonathan Bailey when he turned into the Scarecrow in Wicked. You can tell it’s Alexander Skarsgård from head to toe. And even the added detail of light shining through his body is something we noticed and admire.
We just hope it’s a happy ending. Because I’ve only had Wicker for one trailer and I’m already invested!
