After winning the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, Beth de Araújo’s Josephine finally has a trailer and release date.
Releasing in select theaters on November 20th, Josephine is a haunting story about a life altering moment. It’s told through the perspective of Mason Reeves eight-year-old character Josephine, who witnesses a violent crime in Golden Gate Park. As she processes what she saw, she starts acting out. And her parents (Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan) struggle with how to help their child. They also don’t know how to make her feel safe.

In the first official trailer we see this young girl not understanding how a world with such a cruelty can exist while arming herself and acting out against her parents. It’s an intense film that garnered Reeves critical acclaim for her performance. The same thing can be said for Tatum and Chan, whose characters are resilient forces in their daughters lives. Both give this movie an emotional weight that feels like the grounding force for the audience.
Based on writer/director/producer Beth de Araújo’s own lived experiences, this drama is about resilience from the unique point of view of a child. And if there’s any movie that will haunt you long after you leave the theater, it’s going to be this one.
