Fall 2: Deadpoint really is going to have our anxiety through the roof with its latest trailer!
Back in 2022, Fall was a surprising hit. The B-action thriller told the story of climbers Becky Connor and Shiloh Hunter, who find themselves stuck at the top of a 2,000 foot TV tower. Directed by Scott Mann and also written by him and Jonathan Frank, it got praise for the gripping tension and practical effects.
Now Mann and Frank are back for the sequel, with a twist. They’re the writers and The Spierig Brothers are directing it. And playing the two best friends in Thailand who are facing unpredictable terrain, extreme exposure, and a fight for their survival: Harriet Slater as Jax Hunter and Arsema Thomas as Luce. Actor Tom Brittney will also be joining them as their guide.
Back when Fall 2 released their teaser trailer, we knew it was going to be a tense situation for these climbers. And the first official trailer elevated that tension while giving us a little more context as to what happens when you’re at 11k feet like Jax and Arsema are. (Apparently oxygen drops to 13.7%, your heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, and breathing becoming rapid. This leads to panic, dehydration, confusion, hallucinations, and finally impaired judgement.)
Now in the second official trailer we get a clearer connection the first movie, but also a look as to what happened to make it so these two are stuck.
Basically Jax and Arsema are in Thailand looking for a guide to take them up the most dangerous climb ever. And as the guide explains the terrifying conditions of said climb, we see Jax watching a video of her sister Shiloh in Fall. She says, “You have to do something that makes you feel alive.” And you see Shiloh hanging from the TV tower that eventually led to her death.
As the trailer goes on, you see that the guide agrees to take them on the Ancient Plank walk. Everything seems to be going fine for the three until rain causes a rock formation to fall and tears a section of the planks. The guide is left hanging, almost taking the two women down with him. And we can assume that they cut the rope since they survived.
What follows is fear, confusion, and panic setting in because while the first movie was 2,000 feet high, this is 11,000 feet high. And there’s no help coming.
