Anna Pigeon Season 1 Episode 10 “SOS” marks the end of season 1. But honestly, as cheesy as this sounds, it also marks the beginning of Anna’s journey. Because by the end of this episode, not everything is perfectly wrapped up together. Some things have been laid to rest and she is ready to move on to the next chapter in her life after the death of her husband. But this is just the beginning of Anna’s overall journey. And I love it.
But just because I loved what “SOS” set up, doesn’t mean everything’s perfect. I do feel that a bit of this episode was rushed, especially towards the end. I like the actor Kim Coates and I wish we would have seen a little bit more of how diabolical he was as Jeremiah or the poisoning that he was doing in the park. And from what I’m assuming, he died, cementing the fact that no matter what evils Anna faces, this is her story.

Without confirmation, but also looking at the books, it seems that Anna’s story is leading her away from this park and on to the next one. And though I understand it, I am sad about it. I like everything that we have discovered about Anna in this park. I like how she found her spark again, came to care for people (and her cat), and allowed herself to not just breathe for the first time in ages, but open up her heart to allow people to worry about her.
Anna has healed in this park. Not all the wounds from her husband’s murder. But a lot of the guilt that she was carrying, she shed with every single trial and tribulation that she went through in Season 1. And she’s stronger for it. Maybe that’s why she left the park. Because she’s not totally healed. And just like New York City holds ghosts for her, so does this park and everyone in it, whether they are friends like Zoe or Frieda or romantic interests like Jesse.

Which… I need to talk about Jesse. Not so much Jesse in relation to Anna. I’ve talked about that ship a lot. I want to talk about Jesse in relation to Frederick. If there’s one big missed opportunity that Anna Pigeon made in Season 1 is keeping these two apart. Because it was like watching two bumbling and blossoming future besties getting to know each other. Again, outside of Anna and whatever jealousy these two were feeling, they have complimentary personalities and were so goofy to watch together.
I also think that Anna Pigeon “SOS” fumbled the ball with the consequences for what Bethany did. I’m all here for supporting women. But what she did was so disasterly and monstrously wrong. She kidnapped Anna, drugged and marked her, before trying to kill her. And I don’t care what she does now that she’s got her fancy house and somehow has gotten away with what she did. She hurt Anna. And since Anna is my girl, this will never be forgiven.

When it comes to what I hope happens next on Anna Pigeon, I want to know more about this woman in red. Because it didn’t seem like Anna recognized her when she had those flashbacks. The same thing goes for Molly when she welcomes her into her therapist office. So there has to be something deeper and more messy that happened with Zach all those years ago. And I’m not sure how it’s all going to go down, but I hope that there comes a point where Anna gets pulled back into New York City to put this to rest.
But before she gets pulled back into New York City, she’s going to settle at another national park. And my hope is that Anna Pigeon keeps peeling back the layers of Anna to allow her to heal just like we’ve seen in Season 1. But I also hope that we get to see her doing things just cuz. Because as someone who has done a lot of healing, when you’re in the thick of it, there’s no room to explore the things that you like. So I want to know what Anna does for fun? What does she do in her down time? Or what would she like to do?

I also hope that whatever comes next for Anna Pigeon Season 2, we don’t forget what happened at this park in Season 1. Because yes, it ended with a crazy hunt for Anna that felt very Hunger Games. But outside of that, Anna made some really good connections here. And there are plenty of stories that are not done in this park, in connection with Anna but also them separately. I want to see more of these rangers just as much as I want to see more of Anna.
Right there is what I consider a mark of success for a debut season. Because sure, you can have a talented actor attached like Tracy Spiridakos to draw people. But an actress alone can’t carry a whole show. It’s also about the writing, the directing, the crew behind the scenes, the supporting cast, and every single little bit that is woven into making this show what it is. All together a show should leave me wanting more. And that’s what Anna Pigeon had me feeling as she was driving out of that national park onto her next adventure.
I want more and I can’t wait to see her again in Season 2.
Anna Pigeon has been renewed for Season 2 by USA Network.
