Chicago P.D. Season 14, Episode 2 ‘Don’t Blink’ is the episode where we say goodbye to Laroyce Hawkins’ Kevin Atwater, so we’re already prepared for it to be emotional. Plus, former series regular Jesse Lee Soffer directed the episode, so add that to the pile of reasons this one will probably break us. If anyone understands what it means to leave this show, it’s the man who played Jay Halstead.
But Kevin seems to be getting a really good sendoff, character-wise, unlike others. And though we don’t want to lose him, we’re glad he’s leaving in a way that makes sense for the character and honors what he built over a decade. It’s been a pleasure to watch this character for so long, and hopefully it’s not a goodbye forever, but a see you later.
