We’re back! Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 3 ‘The Mistake’ reveals Jesse’s vampire origin—and, as is the case with everything in this family, nothing is quite what it seems. Here we go!
The One Thing Jesse Never Saw Coming

We love that Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 3 ‘The Mistake’ gave Jesse and Liz something substantial to work with! But do you know the best part? This show always knows how to surprise us! Of all the possible backstories for how Jesse became a vampire, we certainly didn’t see this one coming—yet it couldn’t be more perfect.
Back in his own time, Jesse had no one. He was completely alone. So, when Liz and Charles chose to bring him into their family, he finally felt whole—he felt like he had a real family, a place where he truly belonged. Discovering that they never actually intended for him to be part of the family comes as a crushing blow, making him feel as though that sense of belonging was nothing but a lie.
In Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 3 ‘The Mistake,’ Jesse begins to think that he was never truly part of the family—that Liz and Charles were merely pretending so he wouldn’t discover the truth. But that couldn’t be further from the reality. While it’s true that Liz didn’t initially intend for him to be part of the family, he earned his place. He earned their affection and their love. Now, Liz can’t even imagine her family without him, but she has no idea how to get Jesse to forgive her.
As it turns out, the solution is simple: Liz just needed to show him. Jesse could no longer trust her words, but he could trust her actions. And the answer had been right under Liz’s nose the whole time. Jesse had always wanted a proper welcome party into the vampire world. Including him in Max’s celebration and acknowledging him out loud as part of the family—officially welcoming him—was the best way for Liz to show that Jesse truly belongs.
She might not have chosen him as a family member at first, but in Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 3 ‘The Mistake,’ she does. And that’s everything Jesse ever wanted to feel: to be chosen, to belong. It brought tears to our eyes!

- What is it with the obsession over blood and virgins?
- Though, that fountain of blood was a bit underwhelming, wasn’t it?
