We’re back! In Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Baby Vampire,’ Max tries to deny his new reality only to come face-to-face with it, while Emma tries to figure out if she’s ready for Max to be her “forever” and the family adapts to having a new member to look after. Ready?
Here we go!
Max Isn’t Ready to Be a Vampire

In Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Baby Vampire,’ Max has to face his new reality: he’s a vampire. And the first step is… denial. And we get it. It was a lot to take in over a short period. He had just discovered that vampires existed and that his in-laws were among them, and suddenly, he has to accept that he is one too. We’d try to deny it to the bitter end, too… or run as far away from that house as possible, to be honest.
So, Max is convinced that if he ignores what happened with all his might, nothing will change. He tries to go on with his normal life—work, presentations—but, inevitably, it’s a disaster. Max didn’t want to listen to the “Vampire 101” lesson his new family was trying to give him, and he ended up paying the price.
If we look at it objectively, Max was a bit selfish in Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Baby Vampire.’ As Charles told him, trying to live a normal life when he has no idea about the rules he now has to follow puts everyone in danger. However, as we said, we can’t blame Max for trying to cling to his old, normal life. So, his actions are understandable, even if they weren’t the best decisions.
The best part is that, no matter their differences, when Max was in danger, the whole coven rushed to his aid—even Charles. So, when it mattered most, they proved exactly what they are: a family. A strange, dysfunctional, and very new family—but a family nonetheless. And that speaks volumes.

Charles Puts Family Before His Pride

That said, like any family, squabbles are the order of the day. Charles still can’t stand Max. Vampire or not, he absolutely hates the fact that Max is with his daughter—eternally. He doesn’t think Max is good enough for her, and—to be honest—we aren’t surprised by Charles’s overprotective-father attitude. But then again, when push came to shove, he put his daughter first.
In Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Baby Vampire,’ Emma made it very clear that if Max left, she would follow him. So, Charles decided to swallow his pride and keep his daughter in his life—even if it meant having an “appendage” named Max attached to her. And he made the right choice.
Speaking of Emma, we can’t blame her for having doubts. She loves Max, but they’ve barely been dating for five minutes—and now they’re bound to each other for eternity. It’s a massive leap, especially since they hardly know one another. It could turn out wonderfully… or it could be a total mess. It’s only natural for her to be afraid, even if her heart is screaming at her to trust Max, to trust what they have.
Liz knows a thing or two about this. After all, she fell head over heels for Charles and even wanted to become a vampire to be with him forever. But that fairy tale eventually fell apart.
Because of this, we really wish Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Baby Vampire’ had taken the opportunity for Liz and Emma to have a heart-to-heart about it. There’s no one better equipped to understand how Emma feels than Liz—and no one better to explain the consequences of such a decision. This episode missed that chance. Hopefully, the next one won’t.

Other Thoughts on Eternally Yours Season 1, Episode 2

- Mort has a one-of-a-kind way of offering encouragement. LMAO.
- Jess is awesome! And we love that he still wants and loves Phyllis just as much as he did on day one. But we feel uncomfortable whenever he uses his powers on her. Phyllis deserves to know the truth. And when she does, it won’t be pretty…
- Charles trying to make friends is a mix of funny and creepy. We love it!
- We saw Liz’s hope that Charles was moving forward, growing… and we think maybe he is, a little, but he still has a long way to go.
- This episode confirmed that werewolves and vampire hunters exist. Interesting… what other creatures are out there? Will we see any this season?
Eternally Yours Season 1 airs on Thursdays at 8:30 PM ET on CBS.
