We’re back! In Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 5 ‘Steve’s Dream,’ Max’s inexperience as a vampire—combined with his good heart—leads him into trouble… with hilarious consequences! Things get so complicated that the entire coven’s livelihood is put at risk, all while Liz and Phyllis find themselves in a heated argument. Ready?
Here we go!
Max Means Well, but the Whole Coven Pays the Price

Max is still very new to being a vampire, and that’s clear in Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 5 ‘Steve’s Dream.’ Most of the time—if not always—meddling in affairs that don’t concern you isn’t the best idea, mainly because it can lead to unpredictable consequences. Consequences like a vampire coven suddenly losing its blood supply, forcing them to consider more… primitive methods to obtain it. But some people simply can’t help but get involved.
That’s Max for you. Honestly, we can’t really blame him. Steve was practically screaming for a connection, and in all good conscience, we wouldn’t have been able to just walk away either. Still, Max definitely needs to think things through a bit more before putting something as vital as their livelihood at risk. On the other hand, Charles has mastered the art of being selfish, so encountering someone as empathetic as Max is actually a great thing for him.
In fact, we loved that Charles himself acknowledged—for the first time—that Max’s presence is changing him for the better, pushing him to face these kinds of situations and learn to be a better person. It’s almost an admission that he’s glad Max is part of the family. Almost. That’s real character growth, and we couldn’t be happier! Charles is taking baby steps, but he’s definitely growing. Proud mama here!

Phyllis Finally Fights Back Against Liz

That said, Steve isn’t the only victim of Max in Eternally Yours Season 1 Episode 5 ‘Steve’s Dream.’ Although Liz followed her usual procedure to manipulate Phyllis—and it worked—Max opened his big mouth, and Phyllis realized what was going on. So, she took matters into her own hands to teach Liz a well-deserved lesson. Liz wasn’t doing this to make Phyllis feel bad, nor because she didn’t want her to have any say in the home. It’s just that Phyllis’ tastes are… peculiar.
In other words, Liz didn’t have bad intentions, but for Phyllis, it’s a matter of belonging. When she married Jesse, she moved with him into his family’s home. She needs to feel that the house is, in some way, also hers—yet Liz has been gaslighting her for years. So, when she finds out, yes, she’s angry, but mostly she’s sad. She feels as though she’s present, but not truly part of the family—not considered one of them, but rather someone on the periphery, just passing through.
Nothing could be further from the truth, so we love that Liz understood Phyllis’s perspective and gave in. Having a well-decorated home isn’t nearly as important as making the family feel like a family in their own home.

- More Phyllis and Liz, please and thank you!
- Do you know how they could show Phyllis that she’s truly part of the family? By telling her the truth! (Wink, wink.)
