NCIS: Origins Season 3, Episode 5 ‘Baila Esta Cumbia’ continues with the Gibbs storyline in the present, now with Bishop along for the ride, and gives us some Lala backstory in the past, particularly when it comes to her father. We know more about Lala’s sisters than we know about her father, and we might learn more than his name this hour.
This is a good thing, because though we’ve had Lala episodes before, the fact that the show is delving deeper into her as the mystery in the present storyline gets closer to an answer gives me hope that we will find out that Lala isn’t actually dead. Even if it turns out that Gibbs believes she is.
What other satisfactory conclusion to what’s going on in the present is there? We know what happened to Franks, so it’s gotta be either Lala or Randy, and I love Randy as much as the next person, but that won’t hit nearly as hard.

Photos
There’s very little in the photos, other than proof that Ellie is still around, which we also knew from the promo, and Gibbs, Lala, and Franks looking very serious. What is the show trying to hide by giving us most pictures from the same scene? Or are we just reading too much into it?

Synopsis
Emily Wickersham returns as Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop in this episode, in which “the team’s investigation into the murder of a con woman hits close to home for Lala.” We’ve heard a little of Lala’s family life, but with the episode title, I already expected this hour to be about her, and I’m already very emotional about what we’ll learn.
And “in the present, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) team up for an intense interrogation,” which means they might have found whoever shot Gibbs. Does that mean we’re any closer to answers about who else they’re after?
The episode was written by Kathryn Price and directed by Anthony Hemingway.
Promo
The promo teases that “the Gibbs homecoming” continues; in the present time, we see him and Bishop go after someone who I doubt is actually Gibbs’ friend. In the past, it’s Lala backstory time and we cannot wait.
