In The Blacklist‘s “The Third Estate” the Task Force took on a group of criminals going after the children of America’s richest families, but there was a bit of a plot twist. The children of these families weren’t actually being kidnapped, they were faking their own kidnappings to get back at their parents. They wanted to see if their parents would pay the ransom, or if their lives meant less to their parents than their money. Sadly, only one of the groups of parents paid the ransoms. The other two were willing to let their children die before they would turn over their money.
It looked like The Third Estate was going to be the show’s next big threat leading all the way up to Anna McMahon and the president, but it turns out the promos for the episode were meant to mislead the audience, just as the Third Estate was meant to mislead the Task Force. Anna McMahon set the Task Force on the Third Estate to distract them from the real threat, something that she is planning that actually does lead all the way up to the president. We don’t know what the big scheme is yet, but Anna McMahon has turned out to be a much more formidable threat than even Red thought she would.
Speaking of Red, he and Dembe seem to be through the little rough patch they’ve been having, at least for now. Dembe hasn’t told Red that Liz is the one who betrayed him, but he will soon if Liz doesn’t take responsibility and do it herself. Dembe finally confronted Liz in her office at the Task Force headquarters, telling her that that a lot of people are going to die if she doesn’t come forward. He is also taking a step back from the situation by putting the responsibility of carrying this secret solely on Liz’s shoulders. If she doesn’t tell Red first, then he will.
This moment has been a long time coming too. I will never understand why Dembe kept this secret for her in the first place, but it’s good to see him finally realizing that it was probably the wrong decision. Dembe doesn’t agree with everything Red does, he never has, but in the end his word is his bond and he will die protecting Red before he breaks his word.
We'd expect nothing less from Dembe. #TheBlacklist pic.twitter.com/9Gu4TvDnoi

I only hope that Liz will finally realize how selfish she’s been about all this and come forward to take responsibility for what she did before Red kills anyone else.

Also in “The Third Estate” Ressler continued to move closer to finding out what happened to Katarina Rostova in his search for Red’s true identity. It looks like that is going to play into next week’s 2 hour event as Liz tells Red in the promo that she knows everything about who he is.
Check out the synopsis and trailer for next week and get ready for 2 straight hours of The Blacklist next Friday starting at 8:00 pm:
The task force is drawn into the investigation of an old case that has gained notoriety due to a popular true crime podcast. Red visits Dom Wilkinson for help making a difficult decision. Ressler makes a discovery about Katarina Rostova’s past.
The Blacklist airs next Friday at 8/7c on NBC.
