We’re obsessed with The Bold Type and we have no regrets about it. Normally on The ABC’s of Ships, we do romantic ships. But we love Kat, Jane, and Sutton on the show so much, that we wanted to talk about their friendship. Because it’s so special. So unique.
This show is one of our favorites. So let’s break it down.
A is for Ambition
We love Ambition. So many times these days, we aren’t seeing just how much ambition women have. But on The Bold Type they are rewarding ambition. They are showing that you can have ambition, you can do amazing things. There is nothing that can hold you back. You just have to embrace it.
B is for Bold
Live your life and don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks. Jane, Kat, and Sutton are showing us every week that there is nothing wrong with living life on your own terms. They know where they want to be, they know that they have to go big and go strong. They want you to be bold. They want you to have faith. They want you to reign holy hell on anyone that holds you back.
C is for Closets
Everyone has a favorite place to be with their friends. The place where they feel at home, safe and unleash their deepest, darkest secrets. For Jane, Kat, and Sutton it is the closet at Scarlet. They remind us that there are a million things that can happen in life, but you can always go to where you feel home – to your friends.
D is for Determined
Determination. Ambition. Hey, if there is anything that we can learn from Kat, Sutton, and Jane is that these things will get you places. Sure, there is going to be shit that gets in your way. You’re going to feel like you are falling apart. You just need to power through. You need to be determined.
E is for Eggs
Ok, if you saw the episode with the Yoni Egg, you know what I am talking about. These girls are each others ride or dies. They are there for each other. I mean, my hand ain’t going up any of my friends vag’s – nope. But what they remind you is that sometimes you gotta do the hard shit for your friends.
F is for Feminist AF
Look, even I have the misconception that fashion magazines are not feminist, but they are. It’s a common misconception. We’re seeing that through Jane, Kat, and Sutton’s eyes. We’re learning everything a long with them, we’re fighting with them. We’re loving them.
G is for Glamorous
Fashion isn’t always glamorous, but it’s something that people have in common. It’s a fandom – and these three are rocking it like no other. They are making us crave their outfits. They are showing us shit that we wouldn’t normally put together. We’re loving it.
H is for Hindsight
Isn’t it always 20/20? Truly it is. But as we’re watching Jane, Kat, and Sutton grow – we’re seeing hindsight could make things easier, sure. BUT – it’s sometimes the rough parts that get us to the good parts.
I is for Individuality
No one is cookie cutter on The Bold Type. Everyone is an individual. They are embracing that, showing us that we can learn from everyones individuality. We can further ourselves as human beings by learning from people who are not like us. We need to embrace it more. Jane, Kat, and Sutton – we love you showing us how we can remain ourselves, but embrace others.
J is for Juggling Everything
If there is anything that you can learn from living in New York is that you have to juggle everything. It’s not easy. New York can eat you up or let you live. BUT – Kat, Jane, and Sutton let you know that you can do it all. YOU CAN figure out what you want and make your way through.
K is for Kisses
Can we talk about taking chances? Cause Jane has taught us that you have to take life by the balls and just do it! When she walked up and kissed Pinstripe, we stood up cheering. That’s right. Kisses – take it as you will, but sometimes you need to live bold and know that you are worth it all.
L is for Love, Love, Love
Love. Can’t convey enough how much LOVE these three make us feel. Sure, they’re finding their way through the new roads of life and making sure that they can get to where they need to. But their love for each other is what friendships are made of.
M is for Making Shit Happen
Things don’t just happen. You need to make them happen. Jane, Kat and Sutton are going to make things happen for themselves. They don’t back down. They know what they want. They are fierce, they are going to figure out a way to make their dreams come true. We can learn a lot from them. Giving up isn’t an option. Making things happen is what they do.
N is for Need
We need this show. We didn’t know we needed it, but we do. We need it desperately. We love the fresh look that it gives us in life.
O is for Obvi
Obvi – is for how amazing this friendship is. Jane, Sutton, and Kat are goals. They make us want to learn more, be more, and thrive. We’re all about it. They are goals.
P is for Passionate
With anything in life, you need to love it to live. Kat, Jane, and Sutton have passion and it comes across in every scene that they are in. They thrive by their passion. They are motivated by it. They want each other to succeed and they are willing to push each other to get there. Their passion for their own goals as well as each others goals makes their friendship special.
Q is for Quirky
Kat, Jane, and Sutton are not perfect, but that is part of what makes them special. Their quirkiness, their amazing attitudes and personalities remind you that you don’t have to be exactly like you friends. You just need to be you. Your friends will love you for your quirkiness. They will love you for all parts of you.
R is for Radiant
Kat, Jane, and Sutton shine. They radiate off the screen. You want to be a part of this friendship. You want to be a part of what makes them special. You want to find friends just like them.
S is for Sexy AF
This show goes there. This show reminds you that no matter what – you can be sexy AF with confidence. We love that!
Also those scenes with Jane and Pinstripe? Lord, let me fan myself.
T is for Thankful
We’re thankful that Kat, Jane, and Sutton exist. We’re thankful that this show was developed. We’re thankful that it focuses on women. We’re thankful that we get to see women making a name for themselves. We’re thankful that the cast is diverse. We’re thankful.
U is for Unique
We love that it is unique. That there is nothing like it on TV. It’s a show that we didn’t know we needed.
V is for Vibrant
We didn’t know what we needed, but The Bold Type is vibrant. Kat, Jane, and Sutton – along with other characters in the show are vibrant. They are real. They have flaws. They are going through things. They aren’t perfect. But that’s part of what makes all the relationships/friendships special.
W is for Wonderful
This show, these characters are WONDERFUL. Enough said.
X is for X’s and O’s
We’re just starting with this show, but we’re on this road. We’re letting these ships set sail. We’re about whatever is needed – the characters that are there. The characters that will be introduced.
Y is for YAAASSS
We standup and cheer for Kat, Jane, and Sutton. We cry with them. We laugh with them. We feel for them. We want them to succeed. We don’t want them to fail. We want more for them. YAAASSS we do!
Z is for Zany
Kat, Jane, and Sutton aren’t perfect. They are a little zany. But that’s part of why we love them!
