Sometimes there are shows that bring people together. Right now, for the Fangirlish staff, Timeless is that show. Years ago, some of us came together through Arrow, and stayed together because the bonds of friendship had already been established, but in the last few years Timeless has given us the unique chance to fangirl again, to exchange all-caps texts and to just enjoy something, together.
And that’s why, today, we want to celebrate that, and at the same time, build up the hype for the fifth episode of Timeless a little more, with this episode “The King of the Delta Blues” soundtrack. All credit goes to Mimi for the idea. Here it is, Mimi. We’re doing it every week. Let’s see if we can do this without giving too much away!
Lyra’s Picks
“Baby Won’t You Please Come Home” by Bessie Smith
When you left you broke my heart
That will never make us part
Every hour in the day
You will hear me say
Baby won’t you please come home, I mean
Baby won’t you please come home
“I Can’t Quit You Baby” by Willie Dixon
Well, I can’t quit you, baby
But I got to put you down a little while
Well, I can’t quit you, darlin’
But I got to put you down a little while
“I Like to See You Walk” by John Lee Hooker
I love to see you strut
I’m crazy about you switch
I love to see you strut
You my babe, I got my eyes on you
Alyssa’s Picks
“Kindhearted Woman Blues” By Robert Johnson
I got a kind hearted woman
Do anything in this world for me
I got a kind hearted woman
Do anything in this world for me
But these evil-hearted women
Man, they will not let me be
I love my baby
My baby don’t love me
“Waves” by Dean Lewis
There is a swelling storm
And I’m caught up in the middle of it all
And it takes control
Of the person that I thought I was
The boy I used to know
But there is a light
In the dark
And I feel its warmth
In my hands
In my heart
Why can’t I hold on
“Dance with the Devil” by Breaking Benjamin
Here I stand, helpless and left for dead
Close your eyes, so many days go by
Easy to find what’s wrong, harder to find what’s right
I believe in you, I can show you that
I can see right through all your empty lies
I won’t stay long in this world so wrong
Lizzie’s Picks
“Starts with Goodbye” by Carrie Underwood
I guess it’s gonna have to hurt
I guess I’m gonna have to cry
And let go of some things I’ve loved
To get to the other side
“What it Takes” by Aerosmith
Tell me what it takes to let you go
Tell me how the pain’s supposed to go
Tell me how it is that you can sleep
In the night
Without thinking you lost ev’rything that was good in your life to the toss of the dice?
Tell me what it takes to let you go, yeah
“Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol
Those three words
Are said too much
They’re not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Consensus Pick
“Rolling in the Deep” by Adele
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless, I can’t help feeling
We could have had it all
Timeless airs at 10/9 on NBC.
