Catherine Hand says that after her first childhood reading of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle In Time, she wrote a letter to Walt Disney asking him to make the book into a movie.
She never sent that letter. Decades later, she wound up making the movie herself, as executive producer of the Disney film starring Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Zach Galifianakis (The Happy Medium), Chris Pine (Mr. Murry), Storm Reid (Meg Murry), Deric McCabe (Charles Wallace Murry) and Levi Miller (Calvin O’Keefe).
With the home video release of A Wrinkle In Time set for this week, Fangirlish talked with Hand about making a childhood dream come true. Click on the video to see the interview.
A Wrinkle In Time will be released on May 29 on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD and Movies Anywhere. It will be released on June 5 on Blu-Ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD and On-Demand.
