We know, we know – Chris Wood is leaving Supergirl.
Let us get something straight. Just because he is leaving doesn’t mean that he’s gone forever. That’s the thing that people are missing. Saying someone is leaving a show doesn’t mean that they are leaving forever and can never return.
“The plan for Chris was always to have him on the show for two years,” executive producer Robert Rovner told TVLine. “We’ve loved telling Mon-El’s story, as well as the story we’ve told for him and Kara. We hope the fans felt that it was a satisfying conclusion.”
While we appreciate the sentiment, Rovner has to realize that “conclusion” missed the mark. It was not a satisfying conclusion – it was almost insulting to fans of Mon-El.
We do appreciate that people come and go from shows. We’ve been fans of Chris Wood since his time on The Carrie Diaries. While we know when it comes to Supergirl, we don’t see eye to eye with everyone, but we do believe in Mon-El, Karamel, and that ultimately, there will be redemption for the character.
Is it the end for Mon-El?
Rovner says, “We love working with Chris, so we’d love to have Mon-El back someday if the story takes us there and if Chris is available.”
Karamel isn’t dead. Regardless of who Kara is with in the mean time, we will always believe that Karamel will find a way.
But we will miss seeing Chris on our TV screens every Monday.
