The characters of Game of Thrones have been saying this for a while, but now it’s finally true.
Winter is coming.
Just in case we had any doubts, HBO released the first official teaser for Season 8, which is set to premiere in April 2019, and it looks like it’s all going to hell – except hell is very, very cold.
As is normal with Game of Thrones and HBO, this teaser has very little actual information and relies heavily on the imagery of the houses we’re familiar with, without giving us any actual footage from the next season.
But it’s still kinda thrilling to see, isn’t it? And to take the imagery to mean that a new wall will be created, maybe ….one made of dragon glass? Plus, a fight at the Neck? And Cersei is going mad – well, we could argue that’s been coming for a while. WILDFIRE, after all.
Yes, I did get all of that from 39 seconds. HEY, WOLF AND DRAGON FROZE, BUT THE LION BURNED. That’s all I’m saying. This is BIG.
Not that we’d say no to actual scenes, HBO. I mean, we already know John will get back to Winterfell, and then probably everyone else will, and that includes the Night King and his army. We also know a big battle, one that’s likely to span over more than one episode, is coming.
We also know we’re going to be shocked, and amazed by what’s coming. We imagine the ending will be bittersweet, because how can the ending be anything but that?
But, I’m waxing poetic here. Check out the teaser below and then come share your speculations about Season 8!
Game of Thrones Season 8 will premiere on HBO in April 2019.
