Why do we ever think that we can have nice things? I think after all the shows that we have loved and that have been cancelled, we should know better than to get attached to anything.
Cloak & Dagger has been cancelled after two seasons by Freeform.
If we’re being honest we’re not surprised. It’s not that Cloak & Dagger is a bad show and that’s why we expected it. It’s all the streaming services coming in the next month and in 2020, most companies are going to want to move IPs from mainstream channels to streaming services.
Marvel Studios attention is moving from services such as Hulu and Netflix, as well as cable channels, and taking their produced small-screen shows for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service, starting with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said in a statement. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons, and we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”
It won’t be the last we see of Tyrone and Tandy. They will cross over to Hulu’s Runaways during Season 3, which drops Dec. 13.
We’re sorry to see Cloak and Dagger go.
