Now my boss is an amazing gift giver and I appreciate her whole heartedly. She’s one of the most giving people in the world.
But hey, I will say this – Tom Cruise outdid her.
Now, it’s not a gift he gave me – so like sure, my gifts still reign supreme for me. But what he gave Glen Powell is genius.
As a Christmas present, Cruise had paid for Powell to get his pilots license. The actor took to Instagram to let the world know he had completed his training and is now a pilot.
“Try not falling in love with aviation after living out every pilot’s dream while shooting @topgunmovie,” Powell wrote on Instagram. “Especially when you see the way @tomcruise flexes it. After wrapping a shooting day, Tom would rocket off into the sunset in his P-51 while I would limply shuffle into the cast van.”
Powell continued: “The wings were just so much cooler than the wheels…and for Christmas, Tom bought me an iPad with my flight school downloaded and prepaid. And yesterday, after months of flying, studying, and testing…I’m the real deal.”
What a sweet gift. I can’t even imagine how exciting shooting Top Gun was and Powell definitely must have fallen in love with flying.
“Thank you Tom for being my hype man every step of the way. If you’re looking for me, look ☝🏼.” Powell finished off his post.
We’ll definitely be looking up.
