I’m at the point where I’m not even sure if this is good news or bad news, because we all remember how much we hated the Game of Thrones finale (we do, right?), but EW is reporting the prequel, House of the Dragon, has begun casting.
And again, mixed feelings and all here, but at least this is news? Quarantine has been slow. Very, very slow.
The project is based on George R.R Martin’s Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen. It is set 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones. HBO has so far committed to ten episodes.
No character breakdowns are yet available, but it’s fair to say that if there’s a Targaryen you’re hoping to see, there’s a fair chance that, if this series get far enough in, you’ll get to see them. Which, of course, also means we’ll probably never get The Winds of Winter, because as soon as you give George R. R Martin something new to focus on, he’ll stop writing.
Though he did say he hoped the book would be done in 2021. But we’ve heard that before.
Are you excited for this prequel, or are you just dreaming on never seeing anything Game of Thrones related ever again?
