Since this pandemic began, we have all been going through some rough times. Our lives have changed drastically. We can’t go out like we used to, we can’t see our family and friends like we used to and we can’t do things like go to concerts.
Concert season is one of my favorite times of the year because it’s the time when we get to see some of our favorite artists perform live. So many of them have either postponed tours or rescheduled entirely. Alicia Keys is one of them. Her upcoming album ‘Alicia’ was postponed along with her tour. In the meantime, she’s been making our lives much brighter by giving us music videos and quick live performances.
I love all of Alicia’s albums but, The Diary of Alicia Keys is one of my absolute favorite ones. It’s a beautiful exploration of Alicia’s feelings and the musicality is unreal. She made my day by posting a 26 minute video in which she performed “The B Sides” from the album. For those unfamiliar with this term, the “B Sides,” are the songs that are deemed “less important” on the album. I actually hate that definition because even if a song doesn’t hit the radio, it’s still just as important.
Her performance was incredible and reminded me of what a genius she is. It was just her, and all of her music equipment and it was amazing. No performance sounded the same. Each was unique and so Alicia.
This was just the thing that I needed and it made me so emotional. Alicia knows when to be there for her fans and the timing of this could not have been more perfect. If you’re a fan of Alicia Keys, you definitely need to check this out.
