With the end of Supernatural almost upon us, PaleyFest NY brought together the stars and executive producers of this show for one last hurrah. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert were joined by EP’s Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer to talk about the end of a momentous series. Until the panel is released at 8:00pm EST today via Paley Channel Yahoo Entertainment we wanted to give you a sneak peek at what the cast had to say about the end of Supernatural. Here are some quotes from each star on the end of a legacy!
Jared Padalecki on the end of Supernatural:
“There were a lot of tears leading up to coming back to what we knew would be the final few episodes of the series. I’d read the script, I’d think about this and that, and we were up there. And it seems like every day, every set, it was the last day in this location. Or this is the last time working with this person. And it’s been a week now. A week since we finished filming and I’ve been smiling a lot. I feel like, and I think I talked to Jensen about this with each other, I’ve been really happy. I’ve been really proud. Now that it’s in hindsight, which feels really weird to say, I’ve been able to kind of look at it more objectively as opposed to…during the show, during the 15 years, “I still have work to do. I have to keep up my game. Keep sharp.” And that was just a cool thing. Now I kind of want to talk about Supernatural and talk about the show.”
Jensen Ackels on his last day on Supernatural:
“I’ll say this. The final day on our set, on our sound stages, was the Friday previous to our last three days and that was the really big, heavy, and emotional scene of the episode and of the season and of the series, I think. And we did that, we filmed that, on our last day at our sound stage. So I really feel like that was kind of the emotional…that embodied the emotional goodbye to our home. It was…Jared and I said this is kind of like putting these brothers, these characters, away. Because this is it. This is the last time we’re going to have this real and emotional moment to this degree. And so I kind of felt like that was the last song in a huge heavy rock concert.”
Misha Collins on his series wrap:
“It’s been an unusual conclusion to a series because we’ve been drawing it out because of the pandemic. Like we were almost at the end and we had to take this long break from one another. And then to come back, it felt a bit staggered and a bit drawn out. For me, I feel like I did my mourning of the end of the show, leading up to when we needed to stop production. And it’s been sad and hard. Honestly, I don’t feel like these guys at all. I feel like, “Awww, this is like the end of something really important, seminal chapter in my life. And I already miss all of these faces [points at everyone on screen].”
Alexander Calvert on his series wrap:
“So for me, wrapping this up, I keep expecting that we’re all going to be back to work on Monday and that there’s gonna be a new call sheet. That I’m potentially waking up late for work and getting harassed on set. So I’m still coming to terms with it.”
BONUS:
Jared Padalecki on what coronavirus did to the set:
“We’ve known our crew for many many years. Some of them for 15+ years. But now, when it was like, “The boys are going back to their trailers to get changed for the next scene.” It felt like we were some of those asshole actors who go, “Hey, tell the crew not to look at us in the eyes.” Because we’d leave stage and like they would…like the red sea, they would part. And we were like, “Ok…this must be what life as for David Caruso must feel like.”
Jensen in response: “Or Misha”
