It’s Friday, which means another edition of I will go down with this ship! This time around, it’s the superior couple from Charmed, known as Piper and Leo. If you were thinking of Cole and Phoebe, then I am very disappointed. Anyway, I’m just realizing I might have a little thing with magical couple’s, since my last article was about Harry and Ginny. Well, let’s talk Charmed.
WHAT IS CHARMED?
For those of you that don’t know Charmed, the original and not the new CW crappy one, is spectacular. Charmed is a supernatural drama television series created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Aaron Spelling.
The best summary of the show I can find comes from wikipedia. “The series narrative follows a trio of sisters, known as The Charmed Ones, the most powerful good witches of all time, who use their combined “Power of Three” to protect innocent lives from evil beings such as demons and warlocks. Each sister possesses unique magical powers that grow and evolve, while they attempt to maintain normal lives in modern-day San Francisco. Keeping their supernatural identities separate and secret from their ordinary lives often becomes a challenge for them, with the exposure of magic having far-reaching consequences on their various relationships and resulting in a number of police and FBI investigations throughout the series. The series initially focuses on the three Halliwell sisters, Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano). Following Prue’s death in the third-season finale, their long-lost half sister Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan) assumes her place within the “Power of Three” from season four onwards.”

PIPER AND LEO
Now, let’s get to the love story that is Piper and Leo. Note, one thing to know with Charmed, is that for each sister, it is a trial everyday being a witch. They find it extremely difficult learning how to live their normal lives without evil getting in the way and often are resentful towards their magic. This is especially prevalent in Piper. She wants nothing but to be normal. However, that wasn’t the hand she was dealt.
She fell in love with her guardian angel, Leo, and it was a forbidden love. Over the course of 8 seasons, they fought for each other as much as they fought each other. Piper has literally blown up Leo multiple times with her powers. They weren’t perfect by any means, but they were meant to be together. An easy road was not meant for them, but I think it just makes their relationship that much stronger.
TRIALS
Piper and Leo faced a lot of trials over the course of their relationship as well. This is some of them.
- Leo is a whitelighter and Piper is a witch, ergo forbidden love
- Leo is almost killed multiple times over the years by darklighters (the only way to kill whitelighters)
- They break up, Piper dates stupid neighbor Dan, Piper and Leo get back together
- A secret engagement, they are found out by the Elders and then are forced to separate
- They are eventually allowed to marry
- Prue is killed, which guts the whole family and discover long lost little sister Paige
- They have Wyatt
- They separate
- They are told Wyatt will become evil, so they fight for their son
- Leo becomes an Elder
- Leo gives up his powers again
- They get back together
- The whole Avatar shit storm
- All the demons and warlocks they fight
This is not even a complete list of all their trials – that would take me years to get through. The point I am trying to make is that they fight for each other. Through the good and the bad, when they want to be together, they find a way. They never really gave up on each other or the power of their love.That to me shows true love.
