The Crown is one of our favorite shows. And by “our”, I mean me – because it is not Lizzie’s favorite. But she can’t have good taste with every show.
In season four, we’re going to see more of the life of England’s royal family and if you are like me, that means you’re excited because we’re going to see Princess Diana. Emma Corrin is opening up about playing Princess Diana and we’re here to tell you that her performance will blow you away.
She opened up when talking to Radio Times about what she wanted to make sure was included. She insisted that the show covered the late princess’ battle with her eating disorder, bulimia “in an honest way.”
And I think that is important.
“We’d been working on her body language, and we put together a document that we sent to the script team and said: ‘Can you include some of this in the writing because we’d love to really flesh out those scenes?’” Emma said in the interview.
“I felt that if we were trying to depict bulimia in an honest way, we had to actually show it – otherwise it’s a disservice to anyone who has been through that,” she added. “I don’t think we should shy away from those conversations; Diana was very candid about her experience with bulimia, and I so admire that.”
We admired it too.
Corrin is genius with her portrayal of Diana and it’s something you don’t want to miss.
The Crown premieres on Netflix on December 15th.
