As we learn more and more news about the upcoming Marvel shows on Disney+, Fangirlish wants to make it easier for fans of the franchise to get up to date on all the things they need to know. This biweekly round-up includes some of the biggest and most fun news from the last week or so about all of our upcoming favorite Marvel shows, like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Solider, and Loki.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The only two The Falcon and the Winter Soldier updates for this round-up come from Sebastian Stan’s Instagram. He always gives us the content we need. First he shared a video to remind his followers about the Ronald McDonald House’s Virtual Gala that was on November 16th. This isn’t a direct update for TFATWS, but it is a video of Stan and Anthony Mackie doing what they do best – cracking jokes.
These two have the unique ability to turn one joke into a spiral of laughs in mere minutes. It’s been happening for years. Go back and watch some interviews from the Marvel movies’ press tours and you’ll see it. This silly video reinforces that there is no Captain America without this incredible team. Stan and Mackie are well aware of this, and that’s what’s going to make The Falcon and the Winter Soldier so great.
Stan’s second post is a Throwback Thursday photo from set. Stan pokes fun at Mackie, which is expected at this point. The photo also gives us another glimpse at Bucky’s Vibranium arm. Funnily enough, the costume Stan wears in that photo looks similar to that in the previously mentioned video. Stan also praises his stuntman for all his hard work.
His name is John Nania, and I for one, cannot wait to see his work on TFATWS. Nania returns the favor by writing kind words about Stan in an Instagram post. Stunt doubles are hidden heroes on these projects. The magic isn’t possible without them, so it’s nice to see Nania getting the appreciation he deserves.
WandaVision
There’s more WandaVision news than anything. Now that we know the show premieres January 15th, all the news is starting to fall into place. There are more interviews and details coming out – none of them giving away too much, of course.
For example, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany shared the cover of the December issue of Entertainment Weekly, dressed as their characters, to promote WandaVision. The cover story, written by Devan Coggan, is a must-read for all the fans trying to get as much information about WandaVision they can ahead of the show’s premiere.
There’s a video interview with Bettany and Olsen that accompanies the feature. Bettany and Olsen have such great chemistry and it’s clear they’re both passionate about the project. It’s virtually impossible to not look forward to seeing them lean into the wacky side of WandaVision in January.
Beyond that, Paul Bettany’s done a couple of interview recently where WandaVision comes up. The first is with Collider where Bettany echoes a lot of what’s he’s said in the past. We all know how “bonkers” Paul Bettany thinks WandaVision is. He commends the show for its scale and range. Here’s some of what Bettany had to say: “I think it’s going to make you think about the MCU in a whole brand new way but I do think that it’s absolutely a part of that universe.”
Paul Bettany also sat down with Josh Horowitz to talk about Vision in a whole new, NSFW kinda way. His comments took the Internet by storm. So much so, it felt like the whole of Twitter was talking about some very intimate parts of Vision.
Hawkeye
Finally there looks to be some developments on the Hawkeye front. Jeremy Renner took to Instagram to share that he is training again. It is speculation on my part to believe this is for Hawkeye. However, the timeline doesn’t seem too far off considering Hawkeye is still set to premiere next year. Things are quickly developing for Loki and even Ms. Marvel, so it’s completely plausible that Renner is gearing up for some target practice.
