When you look back on childhood, I can guarantee you that you have a feud with someone. And if you don’t – well then you are a lucky one, and I need all of your secrets to a better life where you get along with everyone.
Today’s Countdown to Christmas is A Cookie Cutter Christmas and well – it’s all about cookies, feuds, sabotage, and love.
Now, one thing that I have learned in life is that Hallmark Holiday movies have a lot of cooking (and hey I am always thankful when it’s not gingerbread, cause ick) and a lot of feuding (and you’ll realize how stupid all the feuds you have are).
Two longtime rivals and elementary school teachers duke it out during the holidays in a Christmas cookie bake-off, but their real feud ignites over a shared interest in a handsome single dad. With both determined to win the prize and the romance, their competitiveness could jeopardize what matters most this Christmas season.
A Cookie Cutter Christmas isn’t my favorite Christmas movie (hell, it doesn’t even make the top 100), because it makes my bored as fuck, but I can deal with it if I need to and nothing else is on.
FEUDS SHOULD BE FORGIVEN
What is the stupidest argument you have ever had? Well for Christie Reynolds and Penny Miller it’s being kids and one singing louder than the other effectively ruining ones solo. They say as we get older we should let go of the past. But these two are definitely holding onto the pain of the past.
Fast forward and these two are now teachers at the same school, and their 1st graders are singing silent night. Competition still in them, the two agree to meet after the kids perform to have a sing off. Hopefully the are singing to let it go.
But the competition between these two doesn’t stop. And to be honest, we spend the entire bit of this movie with these two competing with each other – which personally I could have done without. It stole everything else from the movie, and made you just ready for it to be over with.
Their competition is overwhelming and the way that it extends to every bit of their lives, as well as those around them, gets to the point where you are just ready to move on.
DON’T JUMP TO ASSUMPTIONS
So in this whole thing – of course with them competing over everything, they are competing over a dude. Dude who isn’t even that hot, though I am sure that he has a great personality. Even if his personality seems as dead as a doornail.
James is new to town and he has a daughter, Lily. Lily is in Christie’s class, so you know that there is something there. The man seems perfect on paper – cause you know – it’s Hallmark, and there is always one person that is too close to perfect.
James runs the donation center. He’s giving, kind, and wants to make the world a better place. His entire life revolves around his baby girl though. His wife passed away and he is focused on keeping her life together.
Long story of useless shit short – Penny sabotages the finals by making it seem that Christie is a lying cheat. James is pissed, but of course ends up eating his words. In what may be Penny’s only redeeming moment in this entire movie, Penny admits that she stole the recipe of James late wife in order to set up Christie. Christie hadn’t stolen the recipe, and James had thought that she had.
Look, don’t jump to conclusions. And also Penny doing one kind thing doesn’t make her perfect. It also doesn’t make me like her. But I’ve already said that this movie isn’t my favorite, because of the way these two act.
BE PRESENT
I think that the one thing I have to say about this Christmas movie is that it teaches you something. Be present in the now and stop letting the past dictate your life. It is like not living in the past is going to get you anywhere.
A Cookie Cutter Christmas is boring, repetitive, and in need of something that isn’t arguing, lying, and somehow feeling the spirit. Cause even if people felt it, it was overshadowed by everything.
It just wasn’t my favorite Hallmark Movie.
