I remember watching Center Stage back in the day and thinking how amazing that ballet was. I became obsessed with dance movies after that – thinking that they were the most amazing movies ever.
I am excited that Disney+ will be giving us an inside look at ballet with their new docuseries, On Pointe.
The docuseries gives us an inside look to a season at New York City’s renowned School of American Ballet (SAB). It showcases dancers from 8 to 18 working to perfect their craft and pursue their ultimate dream of becoming ballet dancers.
The series also showcases older dancers working and rehearsing for the New York City Ballet’s holiday classic George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker on stage at Lincoln Center.
The docuseries is six part special event. It is produced by Imagine Documentaries and DCTV with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein, Justin Wilkes and directed and produced by Larissa Bills.
On Pointe will premiere on Disney+, December 18th.
