We got so many Star Wars news during yesterday’s The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event that it was hard to process. One thing we loved after another, after another – and with so much new content planned for the next few years, we won’t blame you if you got overwhelmed and just walked away.
But some time has passed, and now we can look back at the news and start to dissect it. Which is what we’re doing here. So, let’s talk about the projects that were announced:
Rogue Squadron
The next Star Wars feature film will be directed by a woman! Yes, that’s right, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins gets her crack at this franchise, with a story set to introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots.
Rogue Squadron is set to be released on Christmas 2023.
Untitled Taika Waititi Film
We literally know nothing about this project, other than it’s happening, and considering how much we love Waititi, we’re already looking forward to it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
We’ve only been waiting for this for basically 84 years. Ewan McGregor returns to the Obi-Wan role, in a story set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. More importantly, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role of Anakin Skywalker, which is truly the present we didn’t know we needed from 2020.

Ahsoka
We shouldn’t have been surprised to hear that Ahsoka Tano, who was recently introduced in The Mandalorian, will get her own limited series, starring Rosario Dawson.
Rangers of the New Republic
Also set within the timeline of The Mandalorian is Rangers of the New Republic, though that will, presumably give us more of a glimpse at the other side. Let’s just hope the plan wasn’t to transition Cara Dune into that, because after Gina Carano’s issues, that’s the last thing we need.

Lando
We know very little about this too, but we do know Lando, and we know he’s coming back for what’s been billed as an “event series.”
Andor
Everything he did, he did for the Rebellion. Cassian Andor (and presumably K2) are back in Andor. Production just started on this, and though we know very little about the possible plot, it’s sure to feature Cassian’s time in the Rebellion, and oh yes, tons of Diego Luna, which is all we need to know to be all in.
The Acolyte
If we have to take bets on which one of these is going to try to break the mold, it would be The Acolyte, which is described as a mystery-thriller.
Animation
Star Wars: The Bad Batch
Remember the experimental clones of the Bad Batch (from Clone Wars?). Well, this will follow them as they try to make their way into the what is clearly a very changed galaxy after the Clone Wars are over.
Star Wars: Visions
A series of animated short films celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators, this anthology collection is set to bring us 10 different visions from the leading Japanese animation studios.

A Droid Story
More droids to fall in love with? Where do we sign up?!
