You know we love stories that are different, daring and have a special spark. So we loved Wrong Turn! We had the opportunity to speak with its star Charlotte Vega about this movie, her experience on it, and her upcoming projects. Also, she is my countrywoman because she is Spaniard (high five, Charlotte, we come from an incredible country!) and I loved that Charlotte was the first actress of Spanish origin that I had the pleasure of interviewing. You want to know more?
Here we go!
First, it never hurts to go into the background so here is the Wrong Turn synopsis and trailer.
Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return— unless Jen’s father (Golden Globe® nominee Matthew Modine) can reach them in time.
Now, our exclusive interview with Charlotte Vega!
Jen, our leading lady and Charlotte’s character, is a really strong character, a survivor. She can teach us many things so we were curious to know what message Charlotte hopes her character teaches us. And the truth is that her response is incredible. Just read it…
“Well, I hope that the film has lots of things, I guess, but it wants to question within ourselves, and I hope that what Jen shows is that we don’t really know what strength we have until we’re in really extreme situations. And like, you know, you see Jen at the beginning, she’s so indecisive about life and can’t seem to make decisions about maybe things that seem a little bit more mundane in the end. And when she’s put in those life or death situations, she finds this incredible strength she didn’t know she had in order to survive and try to keep her friends alive”.
Charlotte Vega

And … what did she learn from Jen? Here’s her wonderful answer.
“I guess I learned to be brave and to listen to your own instincts, because that’s in the end, that’s what saved her, her instinct to make that awful, horrible decision in order to stay alive and how she she adapts, I guess, to to her situation and and just does the best she can. And it’s like in the third act, like what she says to her dad and and how she learns to survive. And she says kind of all about the next choice you make that you stay alive”.
Charlotte Vega
Wrong Turn is very different from the horror films or thrillers that we are used to and the truth is that it caught our attention, but what is it that caught Charlotte’s attention and why did she decide to say yes to this role? We wanted to know her experience and to know how it was that this strong and incredible role came into her hands, what it was like for her to work on the project. And this is what she told us.
“Yeah, I know there was a lot in the script that really drew me to the film, I was really fascinated by the idea of the foundation being kind of the villain in this film. It’s not your usual bad guy and how it isn’t very clear as the film unfolds who the villain really is. And and they really enjoyed how it makes you look at every character and how it humanizes the villain in. So it’s quite murky waters and there’s no clear bad guy. And I really like that because I think that’s very realistic and very relatable and, you know, really, really relatable.
Charlotte Vega
And in today’s situation, present day and I would imagine, like we’ve talked about before, I really love the character. And I think, you know, I really appreciate the arc that she has, the evolution throughout the film and how she’s a badass and she basically looks after herself and doesn’t need, like, some guy to come in and save her. I guess she’s no damsel in distress. And I really love all the twists and turns and how it keeps you guessing right until the end”.
The story of Wrong Turn is not an easy story to tell or to play (although the film does it in an amazing way) So we imagine that for Charlotte it must not have been easy to play Jen. We had to know what the most shocking and difficult scene was for Charlotte, just to step into Jen’s shoes and be her. Her response is not wasted …
“I say one of the hardest was, I mean, I don’t know if I should give for this, but I try not to. Just in the end, when when there’s the scene with Bill Sage right at the end, that was really, really challenging and really important and very emotional. But there was also lots of stunts involved and it was definitely really challenging, but also probably is my favorite one to film really, really enjoyed it. It was right at the end of the shoot. So emotions are running high, I guess, because it was coming to the end. But also, you know, Bill Sage is incredible and he just makes that scene and we just enjoyed it so much, you know, that the connection that they have, even though he’s the villain and he’s put her through this ordeal, that there’s something really beautiful there and the connection and we really enjoyed filming that thing”.

We always like to play the game of “three words” with the stars, it is really fun and gives us the opportunity to interact more and talk about the film in a more relaxed way. And sometimes the words chosen are really spot on. Charlotte was no exception. She entered the game and … we think she won. Take a look …
“She’s brave, she’s principled, and she’s passionate and…loyal, she’s a loyal friend”.
Charlotte Vega
What do you think? Did Charlotte win this game completely or not?
Charlotte is still very young and is already a very versatile artist. Her career is taking off and she is going to go a long way. So we wanted to know what her dream job was in this industry. What does she think “I have to do this. I have to get here ”. And this is what she answered us.
“I guess I’ve never really thought about it because I’m a bit of a realist, I guess, and I always just think I’m happy to get kind of any job and just to work with lots of incredible people that I can learn from. And I’m really excited, hopefully in my life and in my career be able to try lots of different genres and lots of different kinds of films. So that’s the dream, I guess, rather than one particular job”.
Charlotte Vega
We honestly can’t love her more.
As we mentioned before, Charlotte is a Spaniard, a countrywoman of mine (and I’m really proud that she is in Hollywood fulfilling her dream) so she has had the opportunity to shoot successful shows and movies in Spain and now to shoot them in the US. Being so different countries, we needed to know which was her favorite place of hers to shoot. If she has to choose, Spain or US? Well … her answer says it all.
“I’d say it depends. I mean, it depends on the on the projects. I’ve had fun filming in every country that I’ve been fortunate to work in and in Spain is where I started my career. And that’s why I have so much appreciation for it and so much love. And I wish that I could work more in Spain. But I guess the opportunities are coming from other places. And I love being able to travel. It’s so cool and getting to go places like Ohio that I would probably never go to if it wasn’t for the filming. So yeah, it’s hard to take one. I hope to be able to film in both a lot”.
Charlotte Vega

Charlotte is really humble and so cute. It is difficult for her to choose only one country, one place, because she loves them both and in both of them she is doing what she loves the most. I loved all of her responses but this was one of the ones that I liked the most because I admire that Charlotte is so clear about where she comes from, what her roots are, but she doesn’t refuse to be welcomed by another country, another land, other people. Yaaaas, queen!
We always want to follow the stars we admire wherever they go and Charlotte is undoubtedly one of them. We wanted her to tell us something about her next project that we can’t wait to see. She couldn’t tell us much but she shared some goodies with us that left us wanting more.
“I can’t because it’s very, very early days, and this year it’s like nobody knows if anything will happen in the end. But what I can say is I’m so excited to get back on set. So hopefully soon we can we can say what I’ll be up to”.
Charlotte Vega
Really, can’t wait for this!
Charlotte is amazing, so amazing and cool. She is so young but so mature at the same time. It was a real pleasure talking to her. In her voice you can feel that joviality, that desire to take over the world and the assurance that she will achieve it because she has an impressive talent. She loves what she does and talks so passionately about her work, not only in her new movie Wrong Turn but about everything she does. She was born to do this job and that is very clear when you hear her.
The interview flowed in a natural and wonderful way, it was really like a conversation between friends, just how I always want an interview to be. Just talking about experiences, what day to day is like and a job that we are passionate about. I admire her very much. Since we are both Spanish, we sometimes spoke in Spanish because it is our native language and we loved hearing each other speak it. But that remains for our ears alone, behind the scenes. It was like a little piece of Spain within the world of Hollywood and that is incredible within the rarity of it. And I loved it!
Charlotte has very clear ideas and goals for her career. She will go far … and we will be there to see it.
CAN’T WAIT!
I wish we they could make another about the foundation and jen since she’s pregnant with Venable baby and I would love to see how much jen and Ruthie relationship has grown now that lives with jen in the suburbs and seeing jen being protective of her child and Ruthie I would love to see Venable he’s was intense and seeing how protective she is of her family and trying to protect them from the foundation
