You know us, we’re a sucker for a book to movie adaptation. We’re even a bigger sucker for an adaptation when it’s going to be on Netflix, because we know they’re going to do a great job.
Sarah Catherine Hook and Imani Lewis have been cast as the leads in First Kill, Netflix’s upcoming series executive produced by Emma Roberts. First Kill is based on the short story from Victoria “V. E.” Schwab.
The story is about, “First Kill follows teenage vampire Juliette Fairmont (Hook), who has to claim her first victim in order to take her place in a powerful vampire family. She sets her eyes on Calliope Burns (Lewis), a new girl in town. Calliope, it turns out, is a vampire hunter from a celebrated family of slayers.”
Sarah Catherine Hook will play Juliette Fairmont, who was born a vampire but is determined to not be a monster. She’s got a supportive family, but her legacy may overtake everything in her quest for love.
Imani Lewis will play Calliope “Cal” Burns, a monster hunter. She’s bad ass, but behind the strong teenager is a girl torn between her job and her the secret yearnings for love that she has.
Felicia D. Henderson will serve as showrunner for the series. She has written the series with Schwab. Executive producers will be Schwab as well as Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss through Belletrist Productions.
