Tyger Tyger is already here! We had the opportunity to interview its star Sam Quartin about her experience shooting this movie and everything she learned working on this project, plus some clues about everything that is coming up for her. And you are going to love it! Ready?
Here we go!
Blake is not an easy character, she is real, she is human, so she has this point of darkness and light that makes her complex. So we wanted to know what Sam learned from her, what stayed with her from this character and also what she hopes fans feel about Blake, what Sam hopes Blake will teach us. This is what she answered us and the truth is that her response is not wasted.
The courage to say what I honestly feel, and only do things that feel true to me. The film feels more like a visual poem in a sense- so I think people will have their own experience and learn/take away something unique to them.

Sam is a multifaceted and truly versatile artist, she is an actress, musician and producer. With so many projects in so many different areas of the industry, we were curious to know who is her first love, what aspect she liked the most. And we love her response because when you has the opportunity to only do what you love the most, you can’t choose.

I usually enjoy whatever I’m doing, whenever I’m given the opportunity to do it.
Sam Quartin
The movie has many memorable moments. Seriously, many. We couldn’t choose which one is our favorite so we figured it shouldn’t be easy for Sam to choose either. But we love to play with the stars so we decided to ask her to tell us if she had a favorite moment. But we added one more difficulty and we also wanted to know which was the hardest scene for her. Yes, I know, we can be mean when we want to, but… Sam played with us and we love her for it. This is what she told us.
My favorite shot is the sunset segments, when the car gets stuck in the sand, and then the car burning. I love the scene when Tammie seduces Luke. I also loved the scene by the dinosaurs, in a place called Cabazon. The whole shooting experience on this film was really fun, every day on the project was a dream.

For Sam, preparing for this role and putting herself in Blake’s shoes was not easy. It was a challenge. So we wanted to know what made her say yes to this role and what she did to prepare to play this character, to put herself in Blake’s shoes and feel like her. You have to read what she told us.
I talked to the director Kerry and within the first minute, I knew I wanted to work with him and help him tell this story. I talked to Kerry a lot about the story and Blake before we shot, which helped. I knew I had to fall in love with Dylan’s character Luke, so I made a notebook and put his photo in it and started journaling a few weeks before we shot. That helped make it feel more real while we were shooting.

Like we said, we love games! So we proposed to Sam another game, a little less difficult than the previous one … or not, depending on how you look at it. We asked her to describe the movie in three words. It’s never easy to find the exact words in a question like this, but she … nailed it.
Phantasmagorical. Fun. Romantic.
Sam Quartin
We couldn’t have defined this movie better!
You already know that we love to follow the stars who fascinate us in all the projects they decide to do. For that reason, the question about Sam’s next project could not be left out. We love when the stars tell us some goodies of all that’s to come. Especially when it’s someone like Sam, that deserves the success that she has so, so much.
I have a film I start shooting in May, but I’m not allowed to say the title yet. And my band The Bobby Lees recently put out a new record we made with Jon Spencer, from The Blues Explosion, so we’ll be touring that later this year once things start opening up.

This interview was a bit bumpy, so Sam earned a special place in my heart. The internet connection decided to give us a nightmare day and we couldn’t hear each other. Sam and her team kindly offered to complete the interview by other means. And I adore them for it. It’s not usual that they give you a “second chance” to do an interview, that they have done it just shows how amazing Sam and all the team behind her are.
What I was able to discuss with her felt incredible, really incredible, I felt the passion that she has for everything that she does. Her career is taking off, she still has many good things to live for and she deserves them all.
We will be there to see it… can’t wait!
And here our interview with Sam Quartin ends. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
