Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to television.
The actress has signed on to headline the show Hot Pink for Amazon. The show was loosely inspired by Elana K. Arnold’s National Book Award finalist What Girls Are Made Of.
The book was published in 2017 and tells the story of “the real, knotted, messy, thriving heartbeat of young womanhood.” The story is told through the eyes of a 16 year old girl.
With Gellar signed on the YA project was immediately green lit for a pilot.
I have to admit that I am excited for the prospect of new YA project on Amazon. The streaming service did a great job with The Wilds. If you haven’t watched that one, you should. The streaming service has definitely upped their game with that one.
The show is in association with Annapurna Pictures. Elizabeth Holm is executive producing with director Desiree Akhavan and executive producers Rebecca Green, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug for Annapurna.
We can’t wait to see what happens and if the show is picked up to series.
