Billie Eilish is one of our favorite young artists. Her musical talent knows no bounds. Her songs evoke such strong emotions, and her newest track from her upcoming album “Happier Than Ever,” is no different. The track, titled “Your Power” is hauntingly beautiful. How beautiful is this video? The location is absolutely stunning. The wide open feel of it evokes such loneliness surrounded by beauty. The first 33 seconds of the track really let you know this song is going to be something we’ve never experienced from Billie before. As soon as she starts to sing the lyrics “try not to abuse your power,” it pulls you in. Then at the one minute mark when the bass kicks in, you really start to feel her pain.
These lyrics in particular are so haunting:
I thought that I was special
You made me feel
Like it was my fault you were the devil
Lost your appeal
Does it keep you in control
For you to keep her in a cage?
And you swear you didn’t know
You said you thought she was your age
How dare you?
And how could you?
As Billie Eilish sings the above lyrics, you begin to see the snake climb up her body and start to circle around until it begins to constrict her. If this isn’t a powerful metaphor for abuses of power that women experience, then I don’t know what is.

This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. I feel very vulnerable putting this one out because I hold it so close to my heart. this is about many different situations that we’ve all either witnessed or experienced. I hope this can inspire change. try not to abuse your power.
