In an effort to build a space for queer people like myself, every Tuesday I’ll be posting interviews, opinion pieces, listicals, reviews, and more focused on the LGBT community (and occasionally about the Latinx community since I am Latinx.) Welcome to Queerly Not Straight! Enjoy and leave a comment below if you have a suggestion for what I should cover next.
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! Expect more posts this month, from interviews to reviews and more!
Visions of Us is a Netflix four-part digital documentary that discusses the Latinx and LGBTQ experience. From Elena on One Day at a Time to Santana on Glee, representation has transformed into something that is front and center. And while we’ve still got a long way to go, there have been strides made in the last decade that have made us, made me, feel seen, heard, and understood.
So, whether you’re experiencing these characters for the first time or have known them for years, get ready to throw it back and get to know these game changing queer characters from the Latinx point of view. And when you’re done, make sure to share, comment, or like because we’ve got to spread the word, especially when there’s content focused on our unique experience!
