We’re here one more time to review Chapelwaite! Episode 2 “Memento Mori” raises the level of tension, intrigue and mystery. It leaves us with so many questions … and almost no answers. We want to know the secret behind the Boone family! Ready?
Here we go!
After the previous episode, the rejection of the entire town to the Boone family intensifies in Chapelwaite 1×02 “Memento Mori” in a brutal way. Even Rebecca, as she is close to the Boone family, has become in someone not pleasant to the town.
Everyone rejects them and wants them away from them, they even go so far as to yell at Charles and Rebecca to stay away from a girl they found at night sleepwalking in their house. All they did was take that girl back to her house and her parents, instead of thanking them for doing it, kicked them out. What the hell is wrong with them?!

But the worst thing is that all this ignorance is not only supported by adults, but also by children who have to endure the fact that they don’t even want to sell them a candy or that an asshole is constantly doing them tricks to laugh at them. It broke our hearts when Tane asked “have I done something wrong?” No, little boy, you haven’t done anything wrong, just that people are ignorant and stupid.
And nobody helps or defends them, on the contrary, they blame them. What happens to those who must protect the bullied who always end up protecting the bullies? Luckily not all of them are like that and there is a boy who stands up for them … and we don’t know about you but this character has dazzled us from now on and we really want to see more of him. And those looks with Honor … sparks flew …
Seeing this, this ignorance, this racism and thinking about our society today comes to mind if we have changed as much as we think.

That poor sick girl has given us chills, she dies with the name of Stephen Boone on her lips. How is this possible? Why? When Charles opens the tomb and we see it empty we were frozen. Chapelwaite 1×02 “Memento Mori” knows how to make us tremble with fear. Is Stephen Boone alive? If so, what does he have to do with that girl’s illness? And if he is dead and buried, who and for what was his corpse stolen?
There are many questions that we cannot wait to answer because we feel that Stephen’s madness that led him to kill his wife and try to kill his son was not sudden or accidental and something, or someone possessed him, perhaps the same entity that possessed that little girl . What is clear is that something happens in the Boone family but, contrary to what the whole town thinks, neither Charles nor his children have anything to do with it.
But this poor girl is not the only strange thing that surrounds the Boone family. There is a woman who appears suddenly, like a specter and was trying to guide Charles somewhere … and the same woman has appeared again to someone else. Who is she and what does she want? This, added to the strange sight of worms in Charles’s nose – seriously, I had to look away when he was cutting his nose, it hurts – our heads exploded.
On the other hand, Rebecca and Charles begin to get closer and closer in Chapelwaite 1×02 “Memento Mori” … we know that it is still too early for this and that she is only approaching him and the children to document for her book but a girl can dream, right? We think she’s going to realize that Charles is just a good man with a horrible past who just wants to live in peace with his family.

In addition, we love the relationship that Rebecca is establishing with the children, the way she is always there for them, the way she understands them and how she encourages them and makes them see that they have nothing wrong and the others are authentic ignorant. We really like this.
Here ends our review of Chapelwaite 1×02 “Memento Mori.” We will be back soon with the review of episode 1×03. Stay tuned!
