We’re getting closer to the end of Roswell, New Mexico season three and there has been so much to keep track of that it’s been a little confusing. From the Lockhart Machine to Jones and his master plan to be the alien ruler extraordinaire, to now meeting Father Dallas who is also an alien, I can’t begin to express the overload my own brain is feeling.
We’ve got a lot to cover in this review of Roswell, New Mexico episode 3×10 Angels of Silences, so let’s get started.
In episode 3×09 Tones of Home, it ended with Jones basically kidnapping Heath. Since Jones couldn’t get Liz, he knew Heath would be the next best thing because the two of them were working together at Genoryx. It’s interesting how similar Liz and Heath are and what their ultimate goals are. Heath has obviously made some bad choices just like Liz but, his intentions are good just like Liz. They both sacrifice everything to save those they care about.
Liz is working to separate the hold Jones has on Max, and Heath is working to save Dallas’s life who I guess has some irregularities with his mind that are a little like what Maria is going through. Even though things are in shambles right now, we still loved getting to watch Echo especially seeing Liz get so flustered when she and Max talked about what it meant for them to “get back to normal” once Jones is gone. We are in desperate need of some real Echo time like, please! I am begging for an Echo moment before the season ends.

While Max and Liz are still on the search for Heath, the stuff he stole from her as well as a way to stop Jones, Isobel and Michael are off trying to get Dallas onto their side. The thing about Dallas is he knows he’s different, but he doesn’t know just how different he is. Isobel and Michael are the ones who plan on showing him just who he is. I like Dallas but truth be told, his storyline is a little rushed and felt like it was thrown in at the last minute.
The saving grace would have to be the flashbacks we got of his and Heath’s childhood as well as their adulthood. Although they were short moments, it was so important for the writers to do that because it gave us a little glimpse at their friendship and helped us build a connection. In this episode we also got to see more of Isobel putting her newfound powers as an empath to use. Although, I don’t even think the power is what makes her empathetic. I truly believe it comes naturally and that caring instinct she has, is not new.
Michael on the other hand was very apprehensive about being alone with Dallas and he wasn’t too friendly which we later learned was because he saw too much of himself in Dallas. Both of their life stories are similar and that freaked Michael out because he does not want to confront any aspect of his own past. Once he realized how important it was to share his story with Dallas, he and Isobel were able to get him to trust them which then made it easier for them to have him communicate with the Lockhart Machine.
Yes, we are back to the Lockhart Machine. But we finally have the answers we have been waiting for since Alex started working for Deep Sky. Apparently, Dallas is one of the main people the Lockhart Machine could communicate with, and it was because Theo is his father. We got to see them reunite in a sweet but sad moment. Dallas has felt so alone and seeing him find a connection from home made us happy. One of the shocking things we ended up learning from Theo was that Michael, Isobel, and Dallas are all part of a triad and they are the ones who need to stop Jones.
How crazy is that? It’s always been Isobel, Michael, and Max. We always thought those three were a team, but this new revelation has thrown us for a loop. I have no clue what this means for Max once they stop Jones. Jones is extremely powerful, and every episode is a reminder of that. He’s a master manipulator and the trail of destruction he has left behind has made Max’s life a lot harder.
Sheriff Taylor Max’s boss is a smart cookie. I don’t particularly like her because of the way she’s handled some situations in Roswell but, she’s been able to put all the pieces of this really messed up puzzle together. Because all roads seem to lead to Max, she makes him hand in his badge.

That moment sucked to watch because we know Max’s job means everything to him and it’s not like he can say “Hey sheriff, there’s a crazy clone of me running around killing up people to become the biggest ruler of the alien world.” As Jones gets stronger, Max is falling apart. He’s losing himself and his control is slipping. He needs to sever the tie Jones has on him and get his body back, but it feels more and more like it’s not going to happen.
What really cemented the fact that we have no idea how Max will be free of Jones was Jones once again tricking Liz into thinking he was Max. First, it was pretty obvious there was going to be another switcheroo moment when both he and Max were wearing the police uniform. Second, as soon as Max told Liz to go ahead and he would meet up with her, while they were at the university, I just knew shit was going to hit the fan and it did.
Jones now has Liz and Heath at his disposal and because Sheriff Taylor has terrible timing, he’s also got her. Now Max has to get everyone together to help him stop Jones and rescue Liz, Heath, and Sheriff Taylor.
There’s still more because this is Roswell. While Dallas was having his heart to heart with Theo, he got some more information which Isobel and Michael know nothing about. Dallas chooses to fill Kyle in on the information because well, everyone likes to confide in him. The information he shares with Kyle is that if they are not able to sever the hold Jones has on Max, the responsibility falls on him to kill Max. Now I know Kyle was probably thinking “well shit, why didn’t I leave Roswell?” Poor Kyle is always given the task of holding everyone’s secrets.
Also, why would they bring a nice guy like Dallas in, make him feel welcomed by Isobel and Michael only to have him learn he might have to kill their brother? That’s messed up if you ask me. All I know is we have three more episodes to go and it’s anyone’s guess who will come out on the other side.
Other Thoughts

- Shirtless Nathan Parsons. That is all.
- That Anatsa/Isobel date definitely had us feeling the chemistry.
- Also, I guess we just totally pushed that Anatsa/Max hookup out of our brains huh?
- Kyle is back but Rosa and Maria were noticeably absent this time around which is odd considering how heavily they have been involved in the mission to stop Jones.
- “Paging Dr. Abs. A hug is needed in room two.” – Isobel to Kyle.
- “Oddity surrounds you Evans.” – Sheriff Taylor to Max.
- Kyle burning the files was smart but also sucked because that’s important information!
- Alex giving Michael the strength to talk to Dallas. Yes, we love these two.
- I am really pissed that it took a kiss for Liz to realize she wasn’t talking to the real Max.
- That whole damn speech Liz gave was wasted on Jones.
- We love the friendships in this show.
- “Trust in your triad.” – Theo to Dallas.
- “I’m home.” – Michael to Alex.
- That Malex moment. Feels.
- What was that look Kyle gave Isobel and Anatsa???
- Kyle and Isobel, that’s a pairing we can get behind.
- Okay, does this group not check-in with each other? How is everyone hanging out while Liz is kidnapped and Max has to save her? does no one in this group know how to pick up a phone and say “hey how’s everything going on your end? you good?”
