We already have a long list of reasons to love Tom Holland. He’s fun, he’s not so bad on the eyes, and he plays one of our favorite superheroes. But then you add in the way he talks about Zendaya, and that’s it. We’re done for. And though he does a lot of gushing whenever he gets the chance, the way he talked in his latest GQ Magazine Interview about what he’d learned from her, what she means to him — and so many kids out there, really hit us deep,
Especially, as it relates to fame and just …having to grow up in the public eye, and more than that, be a role model.
“Having her in my life was so instrumental to my sanity,” he told GQ. “She is so good at being the role model for young guys and girls. When anyone comes up, like, ‘Can I have a picture?,’ it’s never a bad time. Whereas my initial reaction was: ‘Why are you talking to me? Leave me alone.’ ”
Tom went on to say that, from Zendaya, he learned to always be on, because. “There are kids out there who are bullied at school who don’t fit in, and Spider-Man is their fucking go-to guy, you know? And at the moment I’m that guy.”
And as for his relationship with Zendaya, it doesn’t seem to be a thing Tom wants to talk about, at least, not in an interview by himself — which, honestly, can we love him more at this point?
“It’s not a conversation that I can have without her,” he also told GQ. “You know, I respect her too much to say… This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.”
Considering all that both he and Zendaya do, in public, it seems like giving them the privacy to be whatever they are, and figure out what and when they want to share it should be the least we, as fans could do, right?
