Tom Holland is a busy man, promoting The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day and traveling the world promoting both movies. We’re not complaining. We love that we are also getting to see him travel with his wife, Zendaya. The two are just adorable.
But as press for Spider-Man: Brand New Day winds down, we wonder what is next for the superstar. Luckily he’s got answers.
A few years back Holland had been announced to be playing Fred Astaire in a biopic of the actor/dancer. Don’t know about you guys, but we’ve been anxiously awaiting him in that role. He gave an update on the project when he was on Good Morning America.
“For me, what I love about my job is the challenges,” he explained, “We have Fred Astaire next, is what we’re planning on doing. And as soon as I finish with these tours, I’m diving back into the dance studio.”
Dance Moves
The actor, who has some pretty great dance moves already, has said that he has a, “desire to use no doubles, to do all of the dancing, to shoot those dances in one shot – how [Astaire] would have done it.”
Astaire had a 76 year career staring in such iconic films as Funny Face, Easter Parade, and Holiday Inn. The man lives on in his movies and is regarded as the “greatest popular-music dancer of all time.”
Taking on playing Fred Astaire is no small task. He’s left his mark on the dance world.
“I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud,” Holland said when appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark.
We can’t wait to see Holland as Astaire. We know that it will be a challenge for him (as it would be for anyone) but we have a feeling he will rise to the occasion.
After all both Astaire and Hollands work ethic are legendary. Make sense for Holland to be playing him.
