Birthdays are a bitch. Yes, I said what I said. Not only do you get older, you have to worry about the trauma, drama, and bullshit that people will throw your way. Because lets face it – there isn’t a birthday that doesn’t have some bullshit tied to it.
Birthday parties are okay sometimes, but like when its a small intimate dinner party with people you are trying to keep shit from, you should know there is about to be a lot of drama and a lot of things that you’re gonna wish you could keep from them. Inevitably, even if you are good at keeping secrets, you’re going to leave a trail. You may think that you can keep shit hidden, but trust, you always leave a clue.
And that clue is the thing that is going to be what brings everything down.

Yes, yes, I am a cynic and I hate birthdays. I am pretty sure that you could tell by what I just wrote.
But I get that not everyone is like me, so it’s not a shock to me that Emily wants to celebrate her birthday. And it’s not a shock to me that Mindy is excited over it.
What scares me is how long Emily can keep her secrets, because she keeps leaving clues to what they are.
I’ve said over and over again, that Emily is messing with too many peoples feelings. Everyone is keeping secrets.
And no one is saying how they really feel.
That can only lead to everything coming crashing down.
I’LL BAKE YOU A CAKE
Personally, I would hate anyone sending me a package having to walk up like six flights of stairs to put it away. But if you want to give me presents, I love presents. So it’s like a mixed bag of emotions.
Emily gets a package from home, filled with all of the things that will make her feel like she’s celebrating her birthday with the people that she loves. Mindy didn’t know it was Emily’s birthday, but she’s in luck. They’ve still got a day.
So the two of them decide to throw a dinner party. Red flag! Red flag!
Small intimate parties give people a chance to talk and we all know that in this group. But Mindy has everything figured out in her mind and they’ll have it in the courtyard in front of their building.
While out there planning, Gabriel walks up and he gets invited. It’s so awkward. I honestly feel for him. I feel like the poor dude is trying to put his heart out there and be all open and Emily is just like ummm… for lack of a better word – kinda cold. Look, I know that she wants to be there for Cami, but are you really being there for someone when everything you do and say is filled with lies?

Gabriel says that he’ll bake Emily a cake and well, we’re clapping for dude. Like he’s such a good man and we can appreciate that with all of our heart.
Gabriel is smart and uses this as an opportunity to ask her about Mathieu. She explains that he overheard that conversation she had with Gabriel. Though I want to tell her that she is stupid and missing the signs, I am going to let her live with her convictions and not say a damn word. Ok – I am, but basically my friends will be telling me to shut the fuck up soon.
Gabriel and Emily are my ship. I want them together. But I also believe that Emily needs to pull her shit together and realize just how in love she is.
Trying to push Cami and Gabriel back together is just stupid.
YOU LOST A CLIENT
Emily makes it back to work and Sylvie tells her that she’s off the Pierre account. This is like stab Emily through the heart kinda shit, because she does love Pierre. But alas Emily and Julie have a little fight and Luke tries to make the peace.
We don’t talk enough about how great Luke is and how he is like so out there that it’s amazing. But if we really think about it he is the glue. He’s holding everyone together. He’s there for everyone.
Do I feel bad that Emily is off Pierre’s account? Kinda. But lets think about it – it is probably a good thing. Those encounters with Mathieu may be a little awkward.
Ok a lot.
Emily and Cami head out and go to a steam room with her friends. Cami thinks that Gabriel has someone else. But the thing that I don’t understand is she’s not really trying. She’s expecting him to run after her and I don’t understand why. Like if she wants to be with him go after him.
It’s one of the most uncomfortable conversations that I have seen. But it’s also frustrating because I feel like Emily could just solve this whole thing really easily.
Instead she tells Cami that she invited Gabriel to her birthday so that Cami and him would have time to talk.
Ugh…
You know by being honest. But she’s lied to Cami about everything. She didn’t tell her the truth about Gabriel or Mathieu.
Speaking of Mathieu, Emily and Cami see him at a restaurant. Emily heads the other way to not speak to him, but Cami – she goes up to him and has words over standing up her friend. This just isn’t going to go well and we all know it.
Mathieu says that he didn’t stand her up and tells Cami that Emily was having an affair.
See what I meant about shit coming out? It always does. And it’s always from the person that you aren’t keeping tabs on that blows up your spot.
RAIN RAIN, ROMANTIC RAIN
Gabriel is a good man. This is a hill that I will die on. He’s not the smartest at relationships but what man is?
When he sees Emily with the bag of food that she’ll be making that night, he tells her he’s taking her shopping. While I can understand her want to be friends, we all know that this isn’t how it is going to end.
But I love seeing them together. I love seeing Gabriel and Emily out there, together. I love seeing how happy they are. I love that he hasn’t given up on her. And I love the moment that they run for cover and he asks her if she believes in love at first sight and strokes her hair.
She runs like a coward. Yes, I said coward. I know that she is trying to protect her friend but at the same time she’s so afraid of feelings that she’s running and that makes her sooo frustrating in my book.
I think part of my frustration with this situation is that there are so many emotions being messed with that it hurts me to see Emily do this to herself. And to others.
DINNER PARTY DRAMA
I always wanted to own an omelette pan – but I don’t eat omelettes and this episode of Emily In Paris has reminded me that I don’t want one.
I also never want to have a dinner party either.
Julien, Luc, and Sylvie all show up for the party. There is a devilish smile that goes across my face when I see Sylvie show up, knowing that she’s given a lot of great advice to Emily, but she’s gonna lean back and take it all in.
Emily and Cami start to talk – she asks her about what Mathieu said. They are interrupted by the cake arriving and they can’t talk. Cake there, Cami remembers Champagne and heads upstairs to get it. BIG MISTAKE.

That omelette pan. I thought that it was so sweet that Gabriel gave it to Emily, but now – with everything that has gone on, and Cami seeing it yet again – and seeing that it’s Gabriels pan. Lord, shit is about to go down.
She’s pissed. You can see it in her eyes. But what I am not understanding is how she goes straight to Gabriel and Emily sleeping together. Do we not have more faith in our friends? I do get that Emily and Gabriel look like a couple in love and that their moves are suspect.
But Cami, again, why the assumption?
Emily runs after Cami as she storms off, but Emily is wearing it all over her face. She can’t deny it. She doesn’t try to.
Fucking omelette pan.
This is what happens when you fuck with peoples emotions. Drama, drama, drama.
And we’re living for the drama.
