Honestly, we don’t know one person who hasn’t watched a movie and gone, “Well, I wouldn’t have done that!” while lamenting what should’ve actually been done by the character in question. Because, as we are on this journey with the lead in the show/movie that we are watching, we see ourselves in them and wonder what we would do if given the choice. That’s why Netflix’s choose your own adventure rom-com Choose Love looks like something right up our alley.
The film will apparently let viewers choose “what journey the main characters take” according to The Hollywood Reporter. That distinction is really important because it means that we’ll be controlling more than one character or just the romantic lead. In turn, we’ll have multiple endings and unique stories that will probably divide opinions on the movie but give the viewer a unique experience that leaves everyone watching with a sense of fulfillment because they had a hand in it.
Laura Marano, who recently starred in the Netflix rom-com The Royal Treatment, will be set as the lead of Choose Love. She will be joined by Avan Jogia, Scott Michael Foster, and Jordi Webber. Stuart McDonald, known for his work on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, is set to direct. While Robyn Snyder, Deborah Evans, Mel Turner, and Axel Paton are set to produce, with some of their credits including work on Falling Inn Love (seriously, watch this movie) and Afterlife of the Party.
Marano will play Cami, a recording engineer who seems to be having everything going for her in the form of her boyfriend Paul. But of course, there is something missing in her life. And when faced with a series of choices that can change her career, her love life, her way of looking at the world or staying in one place, we are brought in to help with those decisions.
And we can’t wait.
Choose Love will premiere on Netflix.
