This week’s 9-1-1, “Hero Complex”, picked up right where last week left off: with Hen convinced something isn’t right with Jonah. She convinces Chimney to join her in her investigation which almost leads to tragic consequences. But don’t worry: no one from the 118 died in this episode.
Jonah’s Past
At the beginning of “Hero Complex,” we get to see Jonah as a child. He saved his bus driver’s life and became the town hero. He loved it so much that he decided to become a paramedic and save more lives. Except there’s one other small detail: he tries to kill them before saving their lives. Not really what a paramedic should be doing.
Hen, with Chimney’s help, investigates and shares her suspicions with Bobby and Athena. This leads to a formal investigation. Jonah knows that Hen’s behind this and calls and threatens her. Jonah kidnaps both Chimney and Hen and makes Hen watch while he injects Chimney with medicine to stop his heart.
Then he shocks Chimney’s heart to save his life. This is sick. Luckily, Chimney is able to knock Jonah out and both Hen and Chimney are rescued by the good first responders.
The Best Partners
At the hospital, Chimney and Hen talk about their partnership and their friendship. They really do have the best friendship and we’re beyond grateful that they’re both okay.
Aisha Hinds and Kenneth Choi were amazing in the scene at the hospital, and they showed, once again, that there’s no better duo than these two. And, Hen did prove that she is always right. We’re so glad she trusted her instincts and that Jonah won’t be able to hurt anyone else.
One more thought about Jonah: he could have been a hero. A real hero. Paramedics save lives and we just don’t understand why that couldn’t have been enough for him.
Other Thoughts
- Anyone else think that Taylor and Buck are heading for a break up? We understand why Buck didn’t want Taylor reporting Jonah’s investigation, but that’s her job. Taylor’s a reporter. Her job is literally to report the news. It doesn’t always make people happy (actually it usually makes everyone unhappy), but journalists and reporters have responsibilities.
- It was nice to see Eddie with his family even if he has issues with his father.
- How is next week the season finale? It feels like this season has flown by.
9-1-1 airs Mondays at 8/7c on Fox.
