Well, well, The Hunger Games franchise threw us for a loop again, but they’ve been doing that for awhile, so we’re not shocked.
While we admit that we haven’t been one to sit down and read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it is because the original books and the fandom were such a special time. But knowing that the movie is coming, casting is happening, and knowing that we will not miss the chance to see it, means that we will be reading soon.
The franchise cast Tom Blyth, who stars in the series Billy the Kid, as the young Coriolanus Snow. Ahhh Tom Blyth, we’re sorry that we’re going to hate your character, but you know, we never liked Snow.
“Coriolanus Snow is many things — a survivor, a loyal friend, a cutthroat, a kid quick to fall in love, and a young man ambitious to his core,” The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes director, Francis shared in a statement. “Tom‘s take on the character showed us all the complex ambiguities of this young man as he transforms into the tyrant he would become.”
The story takes place, “years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow sees a chance for a change in fortunes when he is chosen to be a mentor to Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12.”
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to be in theaters on November 17, 2023.
Are you excited for The Hunger Games prequel? If you could see a prequel of any franchise what would it be?
