Marilyn Monroe has been in the news a lot lately, but that’s mainly because Kim Kardashian and the fact that she wore her dress. But don’t even get me started on that because (1) I love the Kardashians and (2) I’m on a savage rant today.
But ranting about Blonde in a positive way for a long time. Yes, it’s a movie that we’ve definitely been looking forward to, but that’s partially because of Ana de Armas and partially because of the book that it is based on.
Ana plays Marilyn on the movie, which is based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, and is a fictionalized chronicle of the life of Marilyn Monroe.
The official synopsis, “Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.”
And the teaser trailer is absolutely amazing.
It’s crazy how much Ana actually captured Marilyn, but also exciting.
The movie was officially been rated NC-17 for “some sexual content.” This is Netflix’s first original movie (not one that they’ve hosted) to receive this rating and we respect it.
A source familiar with the movie said that the movie, “has some adult, mature content and that the film’s writer and director Andrew Dominik did not want to compromise some of the more intense elements of the iconic actress’ life.”
And we respect that so much.
