This Halloween the Sanderson Sisters are back to cause mayhem and mischief while looking fabulous at the same time. For those that grew up with Hocus Pocus, it feels like coming home. We remember swooning over Sarah Jessica Parker‘s Sarah, loving Bette Midler‘s Winifred and her fabulous hair, and laughing at everything that Kathy Najimy‘s Mary did. It was just a good time all around. Not to mention our crush on Thackery Binx.
We’re set to return to this magical world in the first teaser trailer for Hocus Pocus 2, where a set of newly turned 16-year-olds manage to unleash the sisters just in time for Halloween. And of course, they waste no time trying to wreak havoc and destroy young lives. So it’s up to Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), Becca (Whitney Peak), and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) to find a way to stop the Sanderson Sisters and keep Salem safe.
What makes this movie extra special, at least for this fan, is the return of Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. Jones has had a long career playing weird and magical creatures; from Abe Sapien in Hellboy to El Fauno in Pan’s Labyrinth. But the first time we experienced him was in Hocus Pocus. He’s joined by Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso, Sam Richardson from Werewolves Within, and drag queens Kornbread Jete and Ginger Minj aka Joshua Allan Eads.
