Marvel Studios is getting more and more into the reboot business. If Spider-Man found a second golden age, it looks like Wolverine, under the leadership of Taron Egerton, could be next. If you want to know more details, keep reading!
Here we go!
It all started with the interview that Taron Egerton gave to The New York Times. During the interview, he revealed that he is hopeful of succeeding Jackman as the next Wolverine. Not to speculate too much without knowing what exactly is going on, what Taron Egerton said was “Hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”
This hope is not a long-term dream, but Taron has already met with executives from Marvel Studios, including the company’s president, Kevin Feige. In other words, the possibility of a Wolverine reboot with Taron Egerton is close to being a reality.
The truth is that we have mixed feelings about this. Wolverine is iconic and Hugh Jackman was born for that role. We can’t see another person being Wolverine because when we think of Wolverine, we think of him. It’s a perfect symbiosis. And, as they say, if you have something that works, why change it?
But, looking at it from another point of view, the new Spider-Man movies revisited the story by giving the character a fresh look and, thanks to that, a new generation enjoys the adventures of Spider-Man. It’s beautiful to think that the same thing could happen with Wolverine.
These Marvel characters are the heroes of our childhoods, and there’s something poetic about them also being the heroes of the generation after us.
Taron Egerton is aware of what it would mean to be Wolverine in a possible reboot of the character, relieving Hugh Jackman in the role. He addressed this issue in the New York Times interview when asked how he would feel if it happened. “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it,” he confessed.
The decision about a Wolverine reboot with Hugh Jackman out of the project may not be in our hands, but if it happens, we know everything will be fine because Taron Egerton is aware of what Wolverine and Hugh Jackman mean to fans. For that, we know he would be a perfect fit for the role and could be the movie hero for a new generation of Marvel fans.
